Jan. 28, 2022: iGaming Ontario (IGO) announces that Ontario's new iGaming market will launch on April 4, 2022. Online operators that have registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and "executed an operating agreement" will be permitted to go live on that day.

Aug. 27, 2021: The Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) reveals that single-game sports betting has launched in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island via Proline. Proline+ is available to Ontario bettors, PlayNow in BC and Manitoba, and Mise-o-jeu in Quebec.

June 22, 2021: Overwhelming support for Bill C-218 from the Senate leaves only royal assent for C-218 to become law.

Feb. 25, 2020: Saskatchewan MP Kevin Waugh introduces Bill C-218, a private member’s bill, which seeks to amend the Criminal Code to legalize single-game sports betting.

2005: The U.K. regulates online sportsbooks, and due to a loophole in the Canadian Criminal Code, bettors are able to access and wager with these offshore operators. 

2004: Sports Action, BC's version of Proline, launches online, marking the time online sports betting is available in Canada.
