NFL odds saw the Seahawks open as 3.5-point favorites and that spread has headed north throughout the week. But The real betting story is the total: it opened at 55 and has since moved to 56.5 (totals very seldomly go much higher than 57).

Against the spread (ATS) pick
The Seattle Seahawks have had their way with their 2020 competition. QB Russell Wilson is the betting favorite for the league’s MVP as through two starts, Wilson has an incredible 9:11 TD to incompletion ratio...think about that.
The Seattle signal-caller has completed over 82 percent of his passes, including shredding the Patriots last Sunday. This week, the Seahawks offense will get to roast a Dallas Cowboys' defense that has allowed 59 points over the first two games and is thin in the secondary — Dallas will be without No. 1 CB Chidobe Awuzie.
Dallas won last week in remarkable fashion and probably couldn’t do it again if it tried 100 more times: the Cowboys lost three fumbles, which their opponent turned into 17 points last week and are missing some serious defensive players heading into Week 3.
On top of Awuzie, linebackers Sean Lee and Leighton Vander Esch are out as well. Dallas will have to start three corners who rank 80th or worse out of 107 at the position. It’s not easy to start 3-0 SU on the year, and even more difficult to go 3-0 ATS, but we can’t bet against Wilson right now and that Cowboy defense is a mess.
PREDICTION: Seattle -5 (-110)
Over/Under pick
So how many TDs do you need to top the total of 56.5? The answer is a lot. Bettors aren’t winning this play in the first half.
The Cowboys and Falcons scored 79 points in Week 2, while the Seahawks had 65 combined points in Week 2 and 63 points in Week 1. Both offenses are loaded and can score at will with both teams averaging 8.5 TDs per game combined. The biggest reason for the excessive total is the major absences on each teams’ defense.
We discussed the key Dallas defense injuries above, but Seattle is also dealing with major knicks to its secondary. Corner Quinton Dunbar is questionable, while Jamal Adams and Trey Flowers have dislocated fingers but will most likely play. The Seahawks started the season with a Top-10 unit against the pass, but early injuries are exposing a lack of depth. Could each team realistically score 30 points? We aren’t taking the Under.
PREDICTION: Over 56.5 (-110)
Player prop pick
With such a high projected scoring game, someone on either side is going to exceed their player prop markets. You don’t have to go too far down the Seattle depth chart to find a bargain.
Receiver DK Metcalf has gone over 90 yards in both games this year but somehow has a receiving total of 62.5 yards on some very respected books. The Cowboys have allowed non-slot receivers to top 100 yards in back-to-back weeks and that was with their top cornerback in the lineup.
Attached to the league’s hottest QB in a game that could go back and forth, we have no problems with paying a little juice on a total we feel is 10-15 yards too low.
PREDICTION: DK Metcalf Over 62.5 yards (-120)
Cowboys vs Seahawks betting card
- Seattle -5 (-110)
- Over 56.5 (-110)
- DK Metcalf Over 62.5 yards (-120)
