I watched Berto stop Zaveck last night and did some thinking previously to the fight that they brought up in the broadcast last night. Berto accusses Ortiz the using of illegal enhancements after he lost and then quickly retracted his statement (possibly in fear of negative effect such as being sued or to losing fans due to excuses for losing). Then Berto hires Victor Conte (BALCO) as a strength trainer. I did watch the HBO Real Sports episode of Victor Conte about how he now works with the commission trying to prevent what he use to do (athletes using with illegal substances without detection). While I have nothing against Conte and it's not that I believe or don't believe he is honest now. Why does Berto hire a man that has had more controversy surrounding him in sports the past decade (without being an athlete)? I understand Conte is one of the most knowledgeable and smartest coaches on strength training and nutrition in the world. Stated simply, Berto loses fight then accuses opponent of the useing of illegal substances, quickly takes back his statement and then hires a strength coach who was considered to be the king of the dark side of illegal enhancements without detection, but now has turned his life around and doesn't help athletes cheat anymore. Did last night against Zaveck show Berto to be stronger, faster and overall increased in performance. Just because he stopped Zaveck by cutting and swelling his eyes I didn't see enough to know. Berto regardless was way to fast for Zaveck no matter what. The one thing I notice is Berto and Ortiz throw predictable punches and combos. Berto does it like it's a heavy bag and doesn't adjust if the opponent is blocking. Ortiz similar in a way but has excellent strength that he can hurt or end a guy with one shot from either hand. Also, opponents that block Ortiz's punches but feel how strong he is, it makes them cautious and Ortiz can be a little wreckless.

I rarely lay that much. I think in boxing you get so many even money and underdogs that all should be favorites that I don't take big risks. Say Ortiz gets and early flash knockdown, and maybe a headbutt causes a cut causing them to stop the early anytime after 4 rounds and Ortiz was leading with a knockdown. I know its rare, but it's the extra factor that keeps me looking for underdogs and even money and sometimes when I can get juicy props. I rarely bet overs because of early stops, but I do when I think it's 2 out of 3 times going the distance and I'm getting even money or bettor. Hopkins vs Pavlik was +400 and I played the props and got +800 on Hopkins win by decision. So if you just find fights here and there, find the best way to bet them (timing as well), stick with laying -200 at most like I did by taking all Oscar action paying +190 if Floyd loses. Good luck and I feel that Floyd's defense will allow him to gain a major advantage and anticipate Ortiz's every move. Ortiz has great natural ability but doesn't have the ring experience or natural ring IQ contrary to Floyd.

To me in the Zaveck fight Berto was getting to much. If it was vs. a more powerful puncher he would have been in trouble. I thought the fight was evening up before the cuts. Berto looked to me like he was getting tired. Just the way he was hanging on to Zaveck's neck more and more. We will never know. I like Berto's fights cause he gets hit alot and it makes a good action fight. This last win though wasn't all that impressive. I would have liked to seen it go on. But it was a good stoppage as Zaveck was battered and swollen.

I have been bit on the ass before. My last huge bet that I loss was Dawson vs Martinez. I laid heavy chalk something around -350 and got crushed for a cool 3500. I bet purely on bookies, so my choices of fights are severely limited additionally my bookies now cap my boxing to only 500 max bet. But I do make huge bucks on the angles as well. This bet I hit both the Berto win and Berto KO.

SawLo: I learned my lesson about a decade ago with 3 big losses. In 2001, April I bet Lennox when he lost to Rahman. September I bet with my heart and not my head on Tito over Hopkins. To finish the year, I had Zab when Tszyu KOd him. I can at least say in honesty it was my own fault because all lost legitame (all by KO or TKO) and not robbed in bad decision. I made the mistake of to much multi-tasking, with other business thinking I'd never have a bad year and didn't watch or follow my own rules that made me a winner for almost a decade prior. That year I'd have to check my books, but I think I ended negative a little. With moving, travel, business, etc... getting a big head and not studying video thinking I can just pick them after watching old fights once and going against my betting and bankroll rules. Lesson learned.
