Berto has explosive power. Collazo hasn't really
fought anyone other than Hatton (down early but came back to almost win
via points) and Mosley. (outclassed by a wide margin) His chin is
somewhat suspect - exactly why they matched him against a guy with no
pop. Somewhat of "name" fighter that would add someone of note to the
rising star of Berto. Collazo was knocked down against Hatton
and has been a KO victim before. Once Berto figures out that he can't be hurt it is only a matter of time before he cracks the Collazo style. Berto isn't talked about for potential mega-fights yet. An early knockout of Collazo would change that - regardless of if it actually means anything or not.
Negatives:
Collazo is
your typical NY fighter - slick defensive southpaw. I couldn't find any
southpaws that Berto has fought. Even if there is one somewhere, they
weren't anywhere near legit talent. His style could bother Berto early.
Will this frustration last the whole fight and cause it to go to the
cards? Maybe.
I think this is matchmaking 101 from Berto's
camp. It is a fighter that will expose him to southpaws and a guy that
can give you some rounds. Berto would look great if he KO's Collazo in
short order. It wouldn't be too bad if he struggled a bit and won via
points. I think he'll land early and often and score a highlight reel
type knockout. Would be a big push for big fight against any number of
the great welters out there. However, it is still his first guy he has fought that will present an actual challenge. A 12 round challenge? Probably not.
The only real question is when he'll land something big, not if.

Gotta agree, I went the KO route instead for Berto.

Great start to the year. I couldn't make up my mind since the odds were so close. I thought there was a chance Berto would tear an ACL walking up the ring steps - you never know....

hey....why did you get boxed. Collazo is a good defensive southpaw....not a slick one my friend. Matchmaking is what this fight is all about
