The biggest factor will be POWER. Bradley doesn't have it and Pacquiao
does. Also, Manny's chin has been tested, especially when he was
one-handed and a terrible boxer, and JMM was hitting him with clean
flush powerful shots. Bradley has solid fundamentals, a relentless
worker, works off the jab, and seems to be improving.
With that said, he will be moving quite a bit early on. There will come
an early point he might have to establish some ground so Manny doesn't
walk him down, but that depends on how well he evaluates and responds.
Also, a fighter who most likely will be fighting going backwards (for
almost every round) needs to win rounds not just by landing more
effective shots, or even winning per say... when you fight a
MONEY-MACHINE like Manny, and a guy with a reputation like Manny's, you
have to dominate rounds in order for judges to give you a clear-cut
round. Yes, it is unfortunate, but boxing is a business first, and sport
second. Bradley winning is not a profitable scene, only, and only if a
rematch would be in the works. The only thing comparable to a
Mayweather-Pacquiao is a Trilogy. The thing I doubt about it is Manny's
lack of interest in boxing the past few years so I think he is all done
with rematches and therefore no Trilogy.
Bradley's competition has been Holt (struggled at under 140lbs and is a
much stronger guy at 5lbs more), Campbell (was near 40 and cut, stop in
round 3), Peterson, Alexander (has great athletics but bad fundamentals
and hasn't improved in 5 years) and Casamayor (way to old, and fought at
a weight to high). Bradley did dominate all these fights, but has yet to be tested.
Pacquiao's recent: Marquez (HOF, he adjusted to the higher weight after a
few bouts. Not over-the-hill, and still very strong overall). Mosley
came for a payday and ran (if Mosley fought like he did Canelo, Mosley
would have been retired before Canelo). MargaCheeto was totally
wiped-out after Mosley fight without the physical and mental edge of
wraps. Clottey had no speed and was a punching bag. Cotto fought but he
had no defense and he is much better now and not past his prime like
many think.
So, Where's the edge? A fighter on the rise who is focused but untested,
or a supreme athlete past his prime who has fought many great tough
fights, but seems unfocused with many distractions. Even on the decline,
Manny is the physical dominate fighter and the simple reason is power.
If Bradley can catch Manny clean consistently over 12 rounds while
fighting backwards, but also has to show the judges he can hurt or stop
Manny from walking him down then Yes he can get the decision. That is
too many strikes against him.
The funny part is I read articles that Bradley is Tailor-Made for
Manny... the last Mega-Fighter that I remember a lot of hype claiming
his opponent was Tailor-Made was in February 10th (11th on site) in 1990
and a 42-1 underdog...now you know, Tyson vs Douglas! The conditions of
having a super-athlete that was seriously distracted fighting and
opponent in the best shape and more focused on that fight than any other
time in his life. The difference was Douglas grew up hating boxing but
his father groomed him, but he had physical skills but most his career
he was not motivated and quit. Bradley is no quitter, and maybe a
tougher guy mentally than Manny, but the evidence points to his lack of
punching power and that's something Manny has a lot of as well as speed. GL to all and I will add a more technical write-up prior to fight time.
