Chavez has great offensive technique. And what he lacks in defense he makes up for in chin, heart, and balls. If Jr had better hand and foot speed he'd be a lb-4-lber. But of course Martinez' footspeed and counter-punhing will be Chavez' cryptonite.

JR's continued liver attack made Rubio not want to move his right elbow. Have you ever been in the ring with someone who walks through punches and has a dedicated liver attack? If you've boxed then you understand the importance of chin, heart, and balls. JR's got em all.
JR is still improving his game and he looked pretty golden against Manfredo in Houston. He properly used his height and reach, showed intelligent footwork, worked the jab which he sometimes turned into a lead hook, and even showed good counter-punching skills.

Human beings can only take so much punishment to the brain before they start showing signs of damage. The first and most obvious sign is slower reflexes. Neither Castillo nor Corrales was ever the same after their war. Cotto seems a tad slower after the Margarito's plastered hands beatdown. Margarito is even slower now than he was before the Mosley beatdown. JR takes shots in every fight. He's in his physical prime and hasn't been given an extended beatdown yet but Martinez might be the one to give it to him.
