Cloud Johnson Pick :) Let's the discussion Begin!

Okay here it is possibly fight of the year in my eyes two guys with very little defense both offensive minded fighters.

Glen Johnson is 41, he showed some signs of slowing down by pacing himself (something he never had to do before against Yusef Mack).

Yusef Mack was a defensive minded fighter who made Glen miss a bit and become more economical with his punches.

I'm including a clip of Cloud versus Gonzales someone who had no shot of winning.Notice how Cloud is easily backed up and this is by a non pressure fighter.

Plus Gonzalez had no power so Cloud was taking very little risk.

One thing Glen Johnson does best is adjust and Cloud is very hittable with a double jab.


Now Chad Dawson is fighting Pascal and the winner will probably face the winner of this fight. I don't see Dawson fighting Johnson a third time.

I'm taking Glen Johnson +230 at 5dimes, I know he may get robbed if it goes to a decision, but Cloud has issues inside and outside the ring and this style screams amazing fight.

If Cloud looks anything like he did these few rounds, Glen Johnson will knock him out. We know even at 41 Glen Johnson would never give up you would have to take him out in a body bag before he quits, Corner/REF could stop it by Glen won't quit, can we say the same for Cloud?

Here's the clip I'm referring to and from what I see here even with his "tko" where the ref stopped it .. the guy didn't hit the floor and was 100 % coherent, Gonzalez was just out of the fight had no chance of winning.. and that was Cloud's "Best punch".

Good luck with whoever you wager on, I'm thinking of hedging the bet if the pts handicap goes up (might take Johnson + pts handicap)  waiting for it go go up a bit.

Yea Cloud didn't look too good vs Gonzalez but I thoght he looked pretty good vs Clinton Woods. Fighters grow. Yea Cloud got hit cleanly quite a bit but damn his conditioning was amazing. It turns out Cloud was actually sick for the Woods fight and was throwing up after the fight. Imagine if he was 100 percent. I can envision Johnson winning, but Cloud is not going down without a fight. Remember too, it's a Don King promotion. I say that to you especially Nutty, because you seem to always be warning of conspiricies. I like Cloud by dec at + odds.

What worries me about Cloud is how he telegraphs his hard punches and drops his guard hand while punching. He's gotten away with it so far. FUCK! I think I just jinxed myself.

Dat I'm going into this fight with the mindset if it's a very close fight it's going Clouds way, because if Glen Johnson was the same Glen Johnson who fought Roy Jones Glen would easily win this.

I'm not impressed with Cloud, as you stated he telegraphs his hard punches, and in my eyes easily backed up by pressure, plus many times he holds  his hands low.

Gonzalez took Clouds best stuff.. so did Clinton woods...I disagree with Cloud having amazing conditioning. He had to "take it easy" against Gonzalez so he wouldn't spend himself... he comes out blazing.. but cools down as the fight goes.

Don't get me wrong he still throws punches but starts to telegraph and also becomes a bit more hesitant. He won't have a chance to be hesitant because Glen will be on him Glen may lose but this will be pressure like Cloud has never faced before.

Cloud got hit cleanly and moved back by a bunch of stiffs..sometimes going against tomato cans for too long is a boxers worst enemy.

I wouldn't lay 3-1 on a guy who has made his living beating over matched fighters on Friday Night Fights.


I can live with Johnson losing a close decision, just look at Jacobs last week two judges had him ahead by 2 points when he didn't win a round.

This fight has great fight written all over it... if Cloud wins this he will earn his spot against Dawson.

Weird they have this as an under card and this should be the main event because Alexander is just going to cruise.

great write up Rich...i have some good coin on Cloud but agree with everything you've stated....the one thing i feel your overlooking is Johnson's age vs Cloud's youth....fighters do get better as they mature, and i think Cloud is well aware of Johnsons punching power and determination and wont leave himself as open...add that up with a DKP, and i think Cloud takes an easy UD

Cloud aint knocking out Johnson, just not happening, so if you think Cloud wins, it will be on pts...He's +115 to win a decision, but the prop that the fight goes the distance is -130.  For me it just makes more sense to play the -130 then pigeonhole yourself on Cloud needing to win on the cards.

Whereas Johnson is a RIDICULOUS +620 to win by DEC, that's definitely worth a poke.  I can see Cloud building up an early lead and Johnson coming on very strong late. 

I'm curious to see how Cloud fights backing up.  Rest assured Johnson is gonna have him fighting off the back foot quite a bit.  Cloud's explosive power combos will be nulled if he's constantly going backwards.

Here's the thing tho, Cloud looks dynamic when he flashes off those exploding combos.  It looks pleasing to the eye.  Whereas Johnson will just get in your chest, workmanlike, and grind you the hell down to the body.  Doesnt look as aesthetically pleasing to some judges eyes, which is why he lost the first Dawson fight, b/c Chad's punches were fastier and flashier to swing the close rounds.  I worry that Johnson could get the shaft again here.

Just looking at Clouds record, dude...he fought Strickland...HAHA! Serving number 273, serving number 273...lol.

The more I think about this fight, the less I like Cloud.  I think the layoff is going to hurt him a lot.  Johnson +13.5 seems pretty solid.  If Cloud wins 116-112 on all three, you still win. 

Danno that was going to be my original play but then talked myself out of it .. I asked myself what if Glen Johnson  gets old over night. I mean against Yusef Mack he didn't look sharp and had to pace himself.

Either way good luck, it's a very good prop, was hoping for a bit more points but like the play :-)

nutty, i think you are on the correct side here. i normally play/parlay big faves but i have 4 units on johnson at +235. cloud personally hasn't shown me shit. johnson is a fucking machine and i honestly think he is going to knock cloud's ass the hell out tonight. 41 doesn't mean shit to me and i'm wagering it doesn't mean shit to johnson either. good luck to us and let's get paid.

My plays for tonight:

-Johnson points handicap +13.5 (-115) risking 1.84 to win 1.6.

-Alexander ITD (+192) risking 1 to win 1.92

-Johnson (+243) + Alexander ITD (+192) risking .5 to win about 4.5.

I'm going with just one fight tonight.

Kotelnik has never been stopped, but tonight he could if Alexander goes to make a statement.

Being that Amir Khan and Maidana fought him already.. makes sense for Don King to put him against  Kotelnik and make a statement with POWER.

Personally I would just lay the points with Alexander Koetlink has a good chin but is NOT a good boxer, Cannot see him winning a round cleanly, stoppage would be a win too.

I stood away from that.. but good luck with your pick will be rooting for a KO myself as well I don't want to see 12 rounds of sparring.

                                         

I'd be borderline shocked if Alexander scores a stoppage.  Kotelnik is one of the sturdiest fighters in the entire sport.  Never been done and been in with bigger hitters than Alexander. 

I like Johnson's chances .....Especially with the points handicap as per my post.

Great thoughts posted here tonight.  I wish I had Danno's confidence but I'll stick with my Alexander and Johnson win parlay.
