…Sean Sherk, the UFC’s lightweight champion, will be ringside to watch Mayweather try to lift the super welterweight boxing title from De La Hoya.
Mayweather has recently made a number of critical comments about the UFC and MMA. UFC president Dana White, who along with owner Lorenzo Fertitta will also be ringside, has agreed to make it worthwhile for Mayweather to prove his point if he gets past De La Hoya.
White has been irritated by Mayweather’s putdowns of MMA and has decided to challenge Mayweather to back his words.
“If Floyd is serious and he seriously wants to do this and he’s not shooting his mouth off, I’ll make him an offer that is definitely worth his while,” White said. “I don’t think he’d last three minutes with Sherk. He’d be beaten in three minutes, and pretty likely in under a minute, and it would probably be by stoppage or tap-out.”
Fertitta, who was once a member of the Nevada Athletic Commission, said, “Floyd knows he’d get his ass kicked.”

After watching that fight last night and shelling out 55 bucks to watch it, i'll take a UFC pay-per-view anyday of the week over boxing. Last night proved that boxing has become all hype and buildup and no delivery. You boxing fans can talk all you want about 3 or 4 boxing fights that are good but UFC puts 3 or 4 good fights on each card......
LONG LIVE THE UFC

Under most circumstances if a boxer gets in an UFC ring he will get his butt handed to him. Likewise, if an UFC fighter gets into a boxing ring the true boxer should easily win. These arguments are stupid. Its like saying a baseball player could beat a basketball player on the court just because both sports involve a ball.

On an interesting side note Floyd Mayweather Jr. cleared up some
questions about his rumored life after boxing. In the past weeks
boxing's widely regarded pound for pound champion had made derogatory
comments about mixed martial arts and its fighters, prompting UFC
President Dana White to reportedly offer Floyd Mayweather Jr. a fight
against current UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk to prove if
Mayweather's suspicions of mixed martial arts fighters were true.
Mayweather Jr. swallowed his pride and sincerely stated to Fightnews
that he has no plans of competing in any organization of mixed martial
arts,
"I apologize to the UFC, sometimes we say things that we
shouldn't have said and I'm man enough to admit that. I apologize to
the Fertittas, Lorenzo and Dana White (UFC owners). I respect MMA
fighters and what they do in the UFC. I have no plans of fighting in
mixed martial arts."
