that was agreat movie
do yourself a favor and watch this. boxing fan or not
1st off as a boxing fan to wath his old fights was great.
life story was inspiring/sad/. what the govt did to him was disgraceful.
seemd like such a man of dignity, then you can contrast that with the classless ass that is muhammed ali who they show a little bit of in the movie.
overall just a great movie.

Typical comment above to try in turn the story around about the overwhelming racial bias against the great Joe Louis. All the racist bullshit he had to face and overcome and yet he still defended the very country that dogged him his entire life. Joe Louis even defended America in the faces of the Black radical movements of the 60's (Ali, Jim Brown, Kareem,etc) but you choose to comment on what Dick Gregory said. 
Yeah, Dick Gregory could've choosen his words better to apease you LRM704, but he also to grew up in that fucked up time of racism, discrimination and lynchings. So he (Gregory) probably had to bite his tongue or get edited for saying (truthfully) how he really felt. Wonderful piece on Joe Louis, thanks HBO.
