I am loving the Super six right now but it does have some SERIOUS MAJOR flaws. First off the bat Jermaine Taylor should never have been there. We all knew he was shot, we all knew he wouldn't see it out. Allan Green as a replacement is not good enough. He is a class below these guys and he will get exposed in this tourney. I see Ward has opened -800. If I got -400 I was ploughing into it. Now there is no value. Books have priced this fight up correctly. Some people may think +450 is great value on Green. Trust me it is not.
Getting back to the Flaws here. Lucian Bute was the guy they needed instead of Taylor. Now I have heard different reasons why he is not there from HBO contracts to Showtime not making enough of an effort etc etc but the tournament badly needed him and here is why.
If Bute was in and fought AA in Germany first off the bat I wouldn't even attempt to cap this fight. I honestly wouldn't have a clue who wins. Instead Taylor gets in, goes over and AA gets 3 points. These points may be what gets AA into the semi finals at the expense of a man that boxed his ears off the other week.
Dirrells last fight is against Ward and I can't see him beating Ward. I think he shows Ward WAY to much respect and I don't think Dirrell in his heart of hearts believes he can beat Ward (unless they have a gentlemans agreement afterall they are great mates but lets assume everything plays out fairly). That Leaves Dirrell on 2 points.
Rich was saying above that he doesnt think Kessler believes he can win. I don't agree. Kessler was a good fighter and every good fighter has one good fight left in him (its an old saying and so true in many cases). Kessler knows he if losses to Froch his tournament and more importantly his career is over. The problem with Kessler is that he is a seriously laid back nice guy. He went over the Oakland. Ward was full of respect for him. Add to the fact Kessler had been so inactive the previous 24 months, I felt this was a serious banana skin and so it turned out.
Now he is going into this fight and the books are calling it 50/50. I agree. 3 years my mortgage would have went on Kessler. Now I can't back the guy with any huge amount of confidence. I will be back closer to the fight with my picks and writeup (I will be playing Froch in running after 6 rounds when he is miles behind).
Kessler knows this is last chance saloon and I notice he is using Froch's comments as motivation. Froch has since tried to play down the comments he made but I think it may be too late. Kessler is going into this fight low key but I think he is seriously up for this fight. If he wins he gets Allan Green and no matter where they fight, Green is never beating Kessler, providing Kessler has something to fight for.
And here is where I am having the problem. If Kessler or AA gets a semi final place at the expense of Andre Dirrell its wrong. Right now in their careers Dirrell is better then both. 5 years ago Kessler but not now. Ok Dirrells tactics in the Froch fight were not to be admired but anyone who knows boxing, knows Dirrell won the fight. Simple as. If the fight was anywhere BUT England Dirrell gets the nod. That would have left Dirrell on 4 points and guarenteed a semi spot, which on form he deserves. I think only Andre Ward has looked better in this tourney.
But because of the way the whole scenario has played out we are going to have Ward in for sure. Probably Froch as I like him to beat AA in Nottingham (Home advantage wins this one and Froch got it). Then you have Kessler, AA and Dirrell figthing it out for the last 2 spots. The 3 points AA got for the kO of a guy that should never have been there, makes this so unfair and flawed and may be the reason these touraments may never be done again.
Interesting times ahead. I just hope Dirrell makes the semis. He is truly deserving..If Dirrell and Kessler both end up on 2 points then a box off would be great for the semi's..Here's hoping it all eventually gets resolved fairly because a semi final list of Kessler, Froch, AA and Ward is NOT fair..
I absolutely love the Super Six and the 360. I cant wait for the Froch fight, I think it will be more exciting than sugar vs pretty boy. I won with Dirrell even though I was getting scared as he was becoming very tired. I look to take Kessler in this one because I think Froch is just too slow.
Plus Froch says he abstains from sex from his hot ass girlfriend weeks before the fight because he thinks its bad for his training, wtf why would anyone do that? I would bang that bitch every night!And do this to her box!
And truth be told, it is actually good to have sex, it increases the testosterone in your blood stream, which improves muscle control and strength.
