Lemieux is an interesting fighter. He's 21 years old and having no problem packing seats north of the border. He gets the showcase on Friday Night Fights. 22-0 with 21 KO's. Can't miss, exciting fighter with star potential? Not really.
Lemieux doesn't really have the shocking one punch power his impressive KO ratio would suggest. He doesn't have a good jab and has trouble generating offense in the middle of the ring. He has a VERY short reach. Probably not going to be an elite fighter at any point in his career - but he will make a lot of money.
Lemieux has earned his perfect record to this point. He finds a way to get inside, sit on your chest and throw bombs. The way he digs in to the body and throws short punches inside is a thing of beauty. Every shot is thrown with power and he'll get off a ton of shots with his opponent doing nothing more than covering up.
Of his 21 KO's, 18 have come inside of 2 rounds. All are inside of 5 rounds. He's blowing people out. He's fighting at home. Another easy KO? I'm not so sure about that one.
Elvin Ayala is a game fighter. He went to Germany and did well against Abraham until getting caught with a huge left hand in the 12th round. He went to California and got a draw against Mora. If you need a seasoned vet that will make you work without risking a loss, you've found your guy.
Lemieux needs a step up in class and to go some rounds. This fight meets both of those criteria. He's a young, green, cash machine. Lemieux could stop Ayala, but they wanted this fight for a specific reason. They'll get the work from their prospect here in a case of Matchmaking 101.
Lemieux/Ayala over 8.5, -120
