Take it easy walktheline: I did post it in the NFL forum, but I know some boxing fans bet NFL & it's practically unbeatable in the long term. I just figured I'd share information with members that I've posted since week one. No Reason to be so hostile, then again it seems you lost your grip on reality.
 I recall some bold statements from you that makes me wonder that if you cable/satellite/online broadcast of fights is the same as many others. There was a point in time a read your post and though you had some idea about boxing, from your statements I wouldn't have a clue where you'd go next. My NFL posts in the boxing section aren't as bad as your picks. Maybe you were a NY Jets fan and thought Mark Gastineau was the a great fighter, even though he was accused of paying opponents to take dives to pad his record. He then got to fight another former NLF players Alonzo Highsmith, and Mark didn't make it to end of round two.
Maybe it was my computer or you were joking but I recall you posted:

- Ortiz was a monster 147lbs (164lbs at fight time, meaning he had problems making weight and couldn't even steamroll a puny Mayweather. Thanks for not continuing to argue, because maybe some new forum member was looking for a real analysis of the fight and took what you had been the joke of the year and had that poor soul wager on a joke because if people didn't know, now they know April Fools Day fell on Spetmeber 17th in 2011.

You can only have +EV when the odds offered are better than the true odds. Simply put, you have to win once every six times they fought to break even, any better you have +EV, and worse you have -EV.

FACT: For you to think Ortiz had more than a 5% chance to win shows you don't know the first thing about boxing or handicapping. There can only be two reaons I can think of for you to post such CONFIDENCE and the reasons why he will STEAMROLL Mayweather.
   1. You choose a fighter hardly anyone would dare to consider winning. If your fighter loses, all was expected. If he someone how won (maybe Mayweather had a rare physical ailment causing him to concede the bout) you would be considered the one guy posting that picked him. Similar to old tout services, as they had 2 different names, and on Monday Night Football one of their tout services gave half their clients Team1 as lock of the year, while their other tout service gave the other half of clients Team2 as lock of the year. Now they gain 50% confidence rating. They just repeat this was the losing team and split again and have a confidence rating of 75%.
   2. You actually believed the hype that "Viscious" was a new man because he beat up a puppet that was all hype and over-rated. Keep watching WWE and post a breakdown of John Cena vs The Rock (Rematch) with odds and show the value, it seems to fit your writing style. Is the STEAMROLLER a legal move in boxing?

Well, at least walktheline made a play on the fight, unlike you who tried to justify why you did not bet on it. By the way, PBF was not -800 as you procalimed. Some of us who actually handicap and bet fights look for line movements and execute. I was able to bet caliente.com.mx at PBF-260 and PBF +6600 win individual rounds 8-12.

I have a lot more respect for a guy like walktheline that makes a play based on sound convictions(PBF having two fights against compromised competition in three years and at the age of 34 where speed and reflexes historically decline) than a delusional person who suffers from megalomania.

Qncyk1: Now that you repeated yourself for the third time. I remember alll this on a previous post. I agreed Floyd 8-12 was a good bet, and I would have added rounds 7 & 6 individually if I bet 8-12. Yes I counted cards, and it was tedious and boring and without a team you earn 1 - 1.5% on your overall total wagers. At that age you had to be very careful because you didn't want to walk into an AC Casino win 50k, and then have them say sorry, you can't play here. Age 19 I bet like an idiot at 2k per hand in baccarat, and that was the start of big time play. It was very difficult to bet those amounts on boxing as many NY bookies wouldn't take more than a 3-1 odds, so because I brought them so many customers without getting a percentage (many were mixed up heavily using and selling drugs so I did my as little interaction as possible).
BTW- I'm not doubting you, but where did I claim Floyd was -800 (-750 some places I thought)? Ortiz was around +500 most offshore lines, and Mayweather was around -800 to open... Is that way off? My largest one day win or loss wasn't a sports bet, or one hand of poker... it was 3 online high stakes poker games where I lost 290k within 24hrs. At the time this was extreme and hard to do because we were playing limit (not no-limit). I filled in for a high stakes friend and played 9 hours mid 2000's and won over a million, unfortunately not a cent was mine (yes he offered).
The Tyson-Holyfield first fight was the craziest thing many linesmakers and sportsbook managers had ever seen. Open line was I think 26-1 as Tyson favorite, quickly some time within 12 hours prior to fight time it was 15-1, then it was 8-1... the craziest thing was over 95% of the money was still on Evander. Many books dropped down as low as 5/2 and 20 minutes prior to the event sportsbooks were 7/2 at the highest. Yes, Tyson on 24 hours went from 26-1 favorite, then a 3-1 favorite. Now with odds so low, sportsbooks were waiting for the millions to be bet on Tyson... it never came, As the odds dropped people bet more on Holyfield. Look up that story, it has to be written somewhere online. I could be off with a few numbers or a little timing, but I think you get the point of that story. I recently watched (for the who knows how many times) on TCM the original 'The Day the Earth Stood Still". I though about Sportsbooks around the world, with Casinos, Off-Shore, Over-Seas, and every spot and though they should name the fight or the day "The Event the Lines Makers couldn't Sway the public in anyway for the first time in history!"
You can post my plays, but post all my choices and add my NFL (even though they are doing great they won't last). Remember, choosing not to bet a you feel shows little +EV is better in the long run as the bets you save add up. I think after I stated Ortiz couldn't win, but I wasn't betting because the odds were to high and many things can go wrong in big fights. Holyfield-Bowe the REMATCH... the Fan-Man! Ali-Liston the REMATCH... phantom punch and long count with Walcott having a press conference while they began fighting again. I bet several fights per week, and 9 out of 10 times they are fights never mentioned.
Do a recap of all my fight analysis, not picks people asked me to post with unit plays. These were not fights I would choose to wager, and if you read my posts, you would know this. Yes way back I won that much on Holyfield. If you watch the fight, Tyson hits him with a big body shot and it froze Evander up and he held. If Tyson continued to the body, he would have won. Riddick Bowe although a big man was a great inside fighter and tore Evander up inside. Unfortunately Tyson had more jail and activities and became a head-hunter. It was only a few round later Evander knocked down Tyson with a nice body shot. That accidental headbutt was terrible and dazed Tyson quite a bit. Tyson-Holyfield the REMATCH... Evander learned how to headbutt intentionally under the mask of accidental, and as I stated before about major fights and especially REMATCHES, the Tyson-Holyfield fight you have a fighter that lost a chunk of each ear. One more for the road... Leonard-Duran the REMATCH... "NO MAS"!!! The two magic words everyone knows.
Do you now think it is strange that in major fights (especially rematches of close or controversial first fights) and more often rematches you get the unthinkable to occur?

First off, He called me out. Second, he was in such belief that Ortiz +500 was great and I could not explain enough reasons why it was a terrible bet. Look at the posts and you will see that I never directly attacked anyone first, and many times don't reply to BS posts. I think he needs to come back from reality and understand the difference between boxing advertisements and real fights.
Hey Michfan15, thanks for posting and protecting your friend. His knowledge and always being correct took a turn in the loss direction. I do like the way things are done. I offer constructive criticism, I disagree heavily against some (walktheline), and after his fighter gets stomped, he says nothing to me now, but it is nice that he has other accounts and friends to post in his defense. Some was correct, this forum has become filled with HBO 24/7 analysts and are very hostile.

There is not a problem with being wrong, everyone is at times... it's the people who try to insult you and bring you down, and they look bigger. Most the time they fade away, but some... like "thesoulpurpose", finally did man up with me, chilled on attacks and posted more insightful information. Also, the one thing I disagree with is the last post "The majority of us are here to make money, not make friends." I understand, but I put my friends first with my family... I've met many people through online poker, and even though we play against another, I've made friends that you can't price on. I've paid off double mortgages even when I asked my friend to quit poker for good or a while, knowing he doesn't have any way to pay that back. Yet why he still send a $1,000 here and there after 5 years, it was a gift but he is prideful and didn't want charity, but with a wife & 4 children and severe medical condition, he accepted it as a loan. $1k isn't much in comparison to how much we are talking, but to him is every extra cent he has. And my point about friends, I played him online headsup and beat him for all his money before I knew him, strange I met him 2 months later at Bellagio talking about a players screen name and how he lost a lot, I told him it was me & my buddy playing confirmed it, and from then on he's been a brother to me. After meeting me, a few years later, no one helped him with a serious financial problem (he has 8 brothers & 3 sisters), I gave him what he needed. So that is why I'm show respect very early to people cause you never know. We have a poster who instigates and ridicules, and consistently re-quotes what I posted last summer and he does it inaccurate and seems to be a stalker. Read a few posts where he stated I was 0-3 in picks for 9 months, until I reminded him the first breakdown and pick was Manny to win by decision. Then he said 1 win, yet, my Cotto pick in rematch didn't count even though I stated I wanted to see weight in before I posted more... because I didn't, my analysis didn't count.

He is a kid with a passion for boxing but is not good at analysis, so he ridicules others who disagree with him and he repeats anything you post at least three times or more and change his post to suit him. He challenged me to a history question, I answered correctly and said that the fighter I named wasn't successful enough (lol). So he changed his question. Just a lost kid with nothing but a forum he takes personally.

Do you wanna know who the most successful "high stakes gambler" has been over the past few years.  It aint Billy Fucking Walters......Its someone you would NEVER guess.  Its fucking rap artist 50 cent.  And you know why.  For four years now, he has hit the vegas window and laid down a cool ONE MILLION DOLLARS on Floyd to Win, every time he has fought.  Do I need to tell you his success rate??

 

Two of my closest friends made a huge some having to bet everywhere on three fights I told them to max... Hopkins +400 against Pavlik (and prop Hopkins to win by dec +650 for a little extra. The other fight was Paul Williams to beat Winky Wright. Also, to bet a nice amount on Ortiz +350 to beat Berto. I almost only bet even money or underdogs in boxing. In a sport that you have so many major underdogs that should be favorites, I advise them to invest wisely, especially in a crooked sports.
A) Never better a fighter who won the first fight of a rematch in a close or split decision manner, as the word TRILOGY speaks with such power. I did that when I bet Morales in his rematch with Barrera (which I felt he won but I defied my own rules).
B) Use caution betting overs of fights to win by decision as so many odd things cause fights to end early, like Dawson-Hopkins, Ortiz-Mayweather, etc, etc...
C) People always tell me a winner is a winner. Yes, but investing how to bet is more important than picking a higher percentage of winners. Why bet a large favorite when he will win 99 out of 100 times, because the risk-reward is not showing proper +EV. If boxing didn't have so many great even money and underdogs bets (plays that you should be laying -300 or more).
D) Always get your big money down on the fight itself and not just the prop. I beefed up the Ortiz bet with props for Ortiz to win by dec... but every round my heart sunk.
E) The advantage you have in sports betting is you pick the events you want to bet and the amount, so patience and ROI criteria can make a bettor who only wins 30% total of his wagers a huge winner. In sports betting, knowing where and when to bet (not only who to bet) gives you that extra edge every time it just keeps compounding using +EV plays.

... One example: A friend (team-mate) got me to play a 50-50 fight, but at +800. That is a monster overlay... I normally prefer my own fight odds of 65-35 favorite being +400, even though the +800 play has a much higher EV. I won't explain it, but post the original play.

Post #8: Thanks. I felt it was 50/50 fight, depends on judges and if they want punches, accuracy, etc, in a tough fight. That's a type of fight I call a draw rematch. They both fought hard, although it might not seem that way because they lack so many technicals. They should allow these fighters to rematch and get paid a 3 to 4 times as much. Hope I gave a 9-1 shot winner to someone!
