Michael Katz is the greatest boxing writer/analyst there was or will be IMO.
I've been reading his weekly columns for years in "Gaming Today".. (www.gamingtoday.com) and I can't recall in the last 5 years that he's ever been wrong about a fight....NEVER BEEN WRONG in his analysis
of ANY fight major or minor in all the years that i've been reading his column. It's actually unbelieveable...........anyway Mr. Katz says:
"Mayweather easy" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Angelo Dundee, Hall of Fame trainer of 15 world champions: ``This is a great fight and we are so grateful because boxing needs that shot in the arm. Mayweather has never fought a guy as big and talented as De La Hoya. The good big man almost always beats the good little man. I see it going the distance and De La Hoya winning convincingly.'' Ever heard of this guy?

Michael Katz has never been wrong, are you kidding me.
Let's see, here are a couple of his recent losers posted over in the predictions at Boxingtalk.com where he writes now. He is a great writer, but an ordinary fight handicapper. He picked Corrales against Clottey He took Barrera over Marquez
Your memory is either terribly off or you are completely naive. I like Mayweather in the fight also, but come on separate fact from fiction.
Here are 20 "experts" take on the fight from Ring Magazine. Ring Magazine Expert Picks

You, my man are very uninformed. Take a look yourself in the link below. I have read Katz for years and he is nothing special as a handicapper, but he is a good read.

Any more outlandish statements that need to be proven false? Besides, can you imagine anyone who never made a mistake in picking a "major or minor" fight as you said over the course of 5 years, come on. Katz is very very ordinary when it comes to handicapping boxing from an odds prospective, although I have heard that he is a decent horse racing bettor.

Ok.... but his gaming today columns were more in-depth than that of course, and those were weak leans....not Buy!Buy!Buy! alerts....he's called many upsets and he's the pound for pound best analyst of boxing out there.
If you think he's "nothing special as a handicapper" that who IS special as a handicapper???
I've found when Katz feels strongly about I fight, it's money in the bank.
He's certainly not ordinary...LOL

Talk about pulling a 180". I thought you said he took Clottey and Marquez.
You asked who is special as a handicapper. There are some sharp guys on this board and a couple of other boards on the net also. I would consider myself a pretty solid handicapper and that's not me talking, that's just results talking. One of Katz's close friends is actually a pretty solid guy at playing the odds, Johnny Bos.
I just went through some archived picks over at Maxboxing just to refresh my memory and like I said he is ordinary. No real big surprises, he was pretty consistent in picking heavy faves that won and a couple of the dogs that he went with got blown out.
Handicapping as a whole is much more than just picking a winner, it's about weighing your plays.
I still can't get over the fact that you said that he has never been wrong, I just saw a crap load of incorrect picks.

"De La Hoya hasn’t beaten an elite-level fighter in years. He looked shaky in beating Felix Sturm," - Tim Graham.
Thats BS... Sturm BEAT DLH. I dont care what the cards say... that boy was better by far. Who was DLH getting ready to fight next? It was a prom fight before a BIG card... why cant I remember who it was?
And whats funny about that link is I dont think ANY of those 20 people said it was going to go down by KO. ALL of them said distance I believe.

I believe it MAY have been before Hopkins. . . Don't hold me to it though. . .
I think there was one guy in there who said that Mayweather by TKO, but yeah, it may have been only one.

I had $13K on Tarver that fight. I think I have a better memory of the events surrounding that night.
Katz like Hopkins...if fact he found is amusing that Tarver was the favorite I recall.
I had cash on the fight too, and one of the reasons I be Hopkins was because Katz like him. Trust me you are wrong. I don't want to get too juvenile and say "wanna make a bet", but if you would like to bet on this I'm game. I'm sure I could dig it out of the archives somewhere.
