Even though it appears most of you here couldn't care less, here is another topic to discuss. And for all intents and purposes, this fight just got killed. And for legitimate reasons. Money. Not Money Mayweather, economics. Simply put, if you're guarenteed to sell out a venue, why stop at 17,000 seats when you can sell 170,000? Well, a venue with that capacity doesn't exist in Vegas, so it has to be built. Now the number of seats is just an absurd analogy, but you get the point. We're gonna have to wait til Mayweather gets out of jail people, if anything.

Arum is a stumbling block....I don't really like Floyd but I dislike Bob more.
May 5th of this year was never realistic, and Floyd knew this before he started spewing (don't kid yourself jerseyboy).....what comes out of his mouth AND his timing are always premeditated.
A venue constructed to seat 45,000 fans adds +/- $ 30 million to the purse. Both sides want to squeeze every dollar out of this fight...great for them, but to the fans (at this point) it will be viewed only as greed.
I hate the business of boxing.
I love Manny - what he came from and what he aspires to be after boxing. And he'll go down as one of the best P4P fighters ever. However, in my opinion, he CAN"T beat Floyd.
I will not buy Manny or Floyds next PPV fight. In fact, they should both fight for free their next time out and people like Bob Arum, GBP & Al Haymon should absorb all the associated costs. The fucking bullshit the fans have had to endure over the last 3 years makes a mockery of the business.
I've defended boxing for years despite it being viewed as "dead". But enough is enough. Larry, I've offically fallen into the "couldn't care less" crowd.

Pinnicale, I feel your pain. Trust me. I want to see this fight badly. I applaud you if you shy away from future PPVs, it's the bold thing to do. I will also. Interesting your thought on FM and the timing of his comments, could very well be he's well aware of things not occuring and can safely "talk a big game", despite secretly not wanting the fight. It's possible. Boxing's structure is severly flawed, how it's made it this far is incredible. How it's remained that way without reformation is perhaps only a reflection of how we as a society truly feel about such a brutal and primitive sport. I don't know what else to say, other than this fight will never be made. There is so much that needs to be right in order for it to happen. I wish it was as easy as "sign your X on the dotted line". But it's not. If anything was ever in need of astral alignment, it certainly would have to the birth of the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Good day.

Team Mayweather already exposed this Stadium excuse. Go read up. You think people will pay 1500 for bleacher sets in a stadium, set 100 yards away, with port-pottys in some dusty venue? Boxing sucks to watch in a stadium and if you been to a fight you would know so.

A reasonable way to get around the idea of needing a larger venue to hold this fight, is to charge more at the door of the smaller venue. For example, whereas the MGM Grand can hold up to 17,000, and a proposed venue under construction holds 40,000, or roughly more than twice the size, ticket prices would have to be doubled, on top of a 50% increase in PPV price, among other things. It can done.

Nice writeups guys, Love reading them. I truly believe IF this fight happens, it will be in Vegas...period. But I'm with you Pinnacle, enough is enough.
With MMA moving around boxing like its standing still, why would you not "mandate" and actually "mandate" the best fighters vs. the best fighters. Anything else, even Charles Barkley would call uncivilized. Regardless, I think anyone with any decision making power in boxing should consult Dana White of the UFC, and take a whole lotta pages from he and the Zuffa Bros. business model. Whatever their doing, look at the statistics on the rise of this sport, why would boxing not attempt to learn from these guys???
