I listed POWER as a huge factor, as well as focus, but how the referee handles the fight and also how the judges score it is going to be the biggest factor. Referee: Robert Byrd (I recall Byrd being more a judge than a referee.) Judge 1: Jerry Roth (Age 71; considered HBO's paid under-the-table) Judge 2: Duane Ford (Age 74; like the DMV license to drive a car, do they have to take an eye test every so often after age 70? lol) Judge 3: C.J. Ross (She has been judging over 20 years, but has received much criticism; that would put her in the majority!) No offense to older judges, but you have to wonder how often after a certain age are they valid; this includes eye sight, focus, and all the things that slow down as old age sets in. I'm not even including the facts of diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, etc, etc... Basically, any fight favored to go to the scorecards is in the hands of possibly and in a matter of time incompetent judges. That's great for PPV Mega-Fights! People don't have to even claim corruption, just look at the facts.) FBI agents must retire at age 57, and for good reason. Yes, former agents can be brought back as a contractor such as a counsel adviser, field specialist, etc. BTW- Roth and Ford both scored the Pacquiao vs JMM II, but Roth had it 115-112 Marquez, and Ford has it 115-112 Pacquiao. That was a much tougher fight to score than the third fight. Many rounds were basically a toss-up, and Manny knocked Marquez down helping him catch-up a few lost rounds, or even making a close round that all judges might have scored 10-9 Marquez and turned in to an easy 10-8 Pacquiao. At those smaller weights Manny was too strong for anyone with such freakish strength. The knockdown was a power knockdown, even though it caught Marquez clean on the chin he was up immediately. That was a late rally for Manny, and Marquez started to ex-change punches not wanting to lose the round or momentum. It was nearing the end of the third round and most fighters would have been out cold. Marquez saw it just as it was too late.

This is exactly why I laugh at the proposition of a 45 / 45 split (as some have suggested) with the remaining 10 percent going to the winner in a potential Pacquiao / Mayweather fight.
It sounds great in theory, but these guys haven't agreed on anything. Can you imagine the circus that would be created if the fight was structured similar to this ??? You wouldn't get one common judge or referee from either camp. It would be a bigger issue than the overall purse or drug testing.

From what I heard ringside, this might be the first time I have agreed with you. Jerry Roth scoring it 116-112 I heard was bought and paid for many years ago and at age 71 and bad scoring after bad scoring continues. So info I have that I haven't seen public was regarding Roth (although rumors speculate), was that he wasn't just a bad judge, but definitely owned and somehow still kept in major fights. Here is a funny fact...JMM vs Pacman II, Roth was the only judge scoring it for Marquez. People might say that was a good score, but regardless, a trilogy (although it did happen years later) makes BIG money, and if Marquez won, Manny would have re-matched him immediately (think about it)! Even if it wasn't so close, I'd say he would have scored it for JMM like he was told to do so. I don't know if this is 100% fact as I wasn't present or never heard anything from Roth, but his scoring goes toward the money... whoever wins that will make a MEGA-Fight seems to get his scoring consistently. Sorry Roth, I don't have audio or video scandal footage, but I can score fights and money fights too! The one judge Adalaide Byrd 111-117 had Abril, as she happens to be the wife of the referee for the Pacquiao vs Bradley fight.

Roth is one of the worst judges ever, Ray Charles could score some fights better. Every once and a while Roth will be right, but usually his score is suspicious. Manny is already guaranteed 1/3 of the judges. If I remember correctly, I have seen Ford turn in so bad card too. Atleast Richard Steele isn't the referee.

After the Taylor-Chavez stoppage, Steele lost all confidence and that grew in to incompetence. Remember his stop with Ruddock vs Tyson? I don't think Steele was a bought man, but received so much publicity from a few tightrope calls he began to question himself. I never followed up to see if they investigated any illegal wrong doing in Steele.

Here is the beauty of the corruption... judges in their 70s could claim Alzheimer or any other age related factor. Also, how many COURT Judges are going to confine seventy plus year old judges to prison for scoring a fight wrong... even with evidence??? That was my point on the post I made when I explained that even though Manny would win with power, how the judges are paid to see it will be the result. Two different factors!!!

The stop on the first Tyson-Ruddock didn't seem all that bad in fast motion, Tyson won almost every round, Razor was hurt and not defending himself very well (just like Tyson was against Holyfield late in the first fight).
