Sat 7/19 - HBO PPV Julio Cesar Chavez Jr +350 Gennady Golovkin -530
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr opened as a +280 dog and it's up tp +350. I want Chavez JR ... should I wait? Is the line going to continue to rise or is it going to fall?
This is one of the fights I've been wanting to see for a while. Thoughts on the line and the fight?
I'll share my reasons for betting on JCC Jr on another post...

Is it even happening? I keep hearing nothing but reasons why it hasn't been signed yet.
Triple G has already signed on for it. JCC Jr doesn't want to sign an extension. JCC Jr wants the fight, (like he asked for), but it looks like Bob Arum is in the way. This fight will happen one day, though. It might not happen as planned but it will happen.
No one is ducking each other here. Triple G isn't afraid of anyone. People are ducking him and it's getting harder to find opponents. JCC Jr isn't looking for a paycheck. He's looking to shock the boxing world. That's why I can't wait to see it.

The only fighters that I believe can beat Triple G are Sergio Martinez and JCC Jr. All others will most likely look like bums in the ring. These are the only two fighters that I want to see in a fight with Triple G. I don't think Peter Quillin stands a chance.
Peter Quillin is almost in the same position as JCC Jr is. Promoters are in the way. The fight hasn’t been declared off, just yet, fellas, although it does look less likely to happen. The betting line for the fight is still up, though, and hasn't changed.

A showdown between super middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin, which loomed as one of boxing's most anticipated fights, is all but dead, the promoters for each fighter told ESPN.com.
Golovkin, who was willing to move up in weight, signed for the 12-round super middleweight fight weeks ago, but Chavez and Top Rank have been going back and forth, unable to come to terms. Arum said Chavez's contract with Top Rank expires in October 2015 and one of the central issues in the negotiation for the Golovkin fight was Top Rank's desire to have him sign an extension, but Chavez did not want to.
Arum said he relented on insisting on the extension and instead presented Chavez with two proposals. Under one proposal, Chavez would earn a certain amount of money to fight Golovkin without an extension. He would earn far more for the fight if he accepted the proposal with the extension.
"But what Chavez wants is the bigger purse without the futures," Arum said. "Why would we take a risk losing money on the fight with Golovkin and then we lose the kid as well? If we can make money and then he wants to go on his way, OK. But he can't have it both ways.
"So if he doesn't do the Golovkin fight, we'll offer him another fight, maybe for an HBO fight or a pay-per-view fight, but we're not going to offer him a fight where we are taking a big risk and we could lose money. For what?"
Promoters are holding boxing hostage. Boxers are going to have to take control of boxing. Boxers should come together and form a league. Boxing needs to be transformed into a major professional sports league with one person in control of the company.
The president of the company should be someone respected by the boxers and boxing community. Promoters control boxing when the fighters should be in control. We pay money to watch the fighters fight and entertain us. No one pays money to see promoters.

I think so too. But it would have been GGG biggest test. I like Jr chin. Would like to see GGG power with a bigger guy. Also like to see when he gets really tagged for the first time.

Lets face it. Jr is on the decline at a meager age of 28. He lost to Vera in the first fight but got the gift decision. Made the poor guy move from MW to basically light heavyweight to fight him.
His chin has held up thus far. but very VERY easy to find. The last guy i want finding my chin is GGG. Plus Jr loves jelly donuts and ballooning up in weight between camps. GGG is a real professional athlete. Dude comes to camp in shape. One left to the body can KO Jr. or set him up for the right hook upstairs. KO night night.

GGG's fights last 4 rounds and JCC Jr can go 12 rounds. JCC Jr was in great shape for his last fight. No disrespect to GGG, who I'm a fan of, but a fight against JCC Jr would be his 1st fight against a real opponent.
JCC Jr would get knocked out
JCC Jr has been in 52 fights is 48-1 and has never been knocked out! JCC Jr is the bigger man, is 3 inches taller with a 4 inch reach advantage. You gotta be new to boxing or a mayweather fan.
Thanks for the laugh.

Im sitting here trying to understand how you AREN'T contradicting yourself....
tell me again about GGG fights lasting "4 rounds"
also. why don't you tell me about GGG amateur record of 345-5
So what...Vasyl Lomachenko's amateur record is 396-1 and was a -700 favorite vs. Orlando Salido... and lost. Amateur records mean jack squat in professional boxing.
Vasyl Lomachenko was portrayed as a monster with a tank that never goes empty. Got in the ring with a veteran fighter and got schooled. I expect the same thing to happen when triple G gets in the ring with JCC Jr.
Triple G's fights lasting 4 rounds tells me more about the opponents than triple G. We haven't seen triple G swim in deep waters against a real challenger. JCC Jr is a proven champion with an iron chin and has shown he can win in the championship rounds.
JCC Jr has the chin, the size, the strength, the reach, the experience and the boxing intellect to bully triple G if this fight ever happens.

The ONLY part i MILDLY agree with. Minus the whole bully part.
He was Sergio Martinez punching bag for 11 rounds until he decided to Wake up and throw some punches. And let me tell you GGG punches WAYYY harder then Sergio ever could.
And please don't bring up the Loma fight. EVER. Not only did Salido miss weight. he THEN rehydrated to WELTERWEIGHT.
He then proceeded to punch Loma in the nuts about 20 times. Keep in mind a low blow is the ONLY ONLY ONLY rule in boxing where a boxer has UP TO 5 MINUTES to take a break (not like anyone uses the full 5)
Now think about it.... IF you had a pair of balls.....
Imagine getting a boxer uppercut to them from a guy who weighs almost 2 weight classes more then you... REPEATEDLY

Lomachenko could have turned the fight down but didn’t. Lomachenko was unprepared and clearly out-classed. He lost… period, no excuses. Even Lomachenko admits that he lost. He should have demolished the bar room brawler. He spent way too much time holding and avoiding exchanges.
Salido’s strategy was to body punch Lomachenko to death. The low blows were a result of Lomachenko’s constant holding and pushing Salido’s head down. It was like Lomachenko had never been punched hard in the stomach before. The only thing Lomachenko could think to do was… holding and pushing Salido’s head down to try to avoid the painful body blows.
In the middle of the fight is when Salido was exhausted. That’s when he started to constantly go for the hold. Lomachenko decided to engage when Salido was gassed and knew that Salido’s body punches had no real power behind them anymore.
Lomachenko won the final 2 rounds but was given a boxing lesson the other 10 rounds. The reason I brought up this fight was to prove that amateur records mean jack squat.
Triple G isn’t capable of mimicking Martinez. Martinez fights like Mayweather but has a giant pair of bowling balls dangling between his legs. Martinez was a bad match up for JCC Jr. JCC Jr got pitter-patted to death for 11 rounds. JCC Jr waited too long to go for the kill shot. He had Martinez beat in the 12th.
Triple G is a straight ahead fighter just like JCC Jr is. JCC Jr wants to brawl and go toe to toe. That’s when he is at his best. I know JCC Jr is a drunk and a pothead. He struggles with his weight because of the munchies. I get that.
If JCC Jr takes the fight seriously, I have JCC Jr winning this fight. I believe the only person capable of beating Triple G, right now, is JCC Jr. Just like I believe the only fighter that can beat Mayweather is Pacman.

Lets not veer off this discussion bringing up Mayweather - Pac.
JCC is a fairly one dimensional come forward fighter (like you mentioned). JCC is not a volume puncher. JCC doesn't have good foot movement. JCC stays in the pocket TOO long. JCC doesn't have the same hear, fire, and hunger his father possessed.
Sounds to me. He would be TAILOR made for GGG. Who might I add has nuclear warfare in BOTH hands. Lets be fair and unbiased here. JCC COULD NOT knock out an undersized, undermatched Brian Vera. Not the first time. NOT the second time. The same Brian Vera who has been dropped many many times and knocked out twice on previous occasion by MUCH SMALLER guys with less power.
Really stop and think about this for a second. Is JCC REALLY the elite fighter HBO has been selling us this whole time? Or is it just smoke and mirrors? Because whenever GGG name is brought up. Opponents ALWAYS seem to...... DISSAPEAR
To wrap this ALL up. and pretty much finish the discussion. Should GGG EVER face JCC. (which 90% WONT EVER HAPPEN) The only one that would be "tested" would be that "iron" chin of JCC.

I'll give you the Jaidon Codrington KO, (even though it was a TV show fight), but not the James Kirkland KO. I got made respect for Kirkland... he is no joke. You ASSUME that Triple G has Mike Tyson power in both hands. We truly don’t know because of the opponents he has fought so far.
You believe JCC Jr is tailor made for Triple G and I believe Triple G is tailor made for JCC Jr. This is a subjective argument. JCC Jr is a calculating and patient fighter. I believe this will be his advantage if the fight was to ever happen.
A concern for me is Triple G’s muscle mass. Muscles make you gas out faster. That chiseled body Triple G has requires a ton of energy and oxygen. If Triple G doesn’t knockout JCC Jr in the first 6 rounds, extreme fatigue will set in, which is why I brought up championship rounds and deep waters.
I would like to see what happens when Triple G goes for that long wind up punch and hits JCC Jr expecting him to fall and sees JCC Jr raise his hands in the air to show it had zero effect. What happens when JCC Jr show boats and encourages the action?
Will it psychologically throw Triple G off his game when JCC Jr goes all crazy psycho by encouraging to be punched in the face? What is going to happen when Triple G puts all he has into a KO punch and runs straight into a counter punch off balance?
How can you be so sure that Triple G’s chin will hold up? Have we even seen Triple G’s chin tested, yet, by a legitimate opponent? What happens when the fight goes into the championship rounds? Will Triple G be able to swim with marathon swimmer like JCC Jr? That’s what makes this such a great fight. Tons of questions…
