Khan / Mayweather

I see early lines of Amir Khan -160 v Maidana for April 17 and Floyd -215 v Mosley (All wagers are action if bout takes place before October 31st 2010)..

I hate Floyd but to me both favorites look like steals, early thoughts?

Khan doesn't have a chin and Roach knows this. That's why he didn't want to face Maidana. But I think Khan is an amazing physical talent who is a student of the game and has the best trainer in the world. I'll take Khan straight up and put a tiny insurance bet on Maidana by KO.

I like Mayweather to win..Also like Hopkins -285 vs Roy Jones in April as well...Jones looks shot at this point

Mayweather for me IF it happens...Khan is a class boxer and should win but I will be playing Maidana..Yes Maidana was dropped by Ortiz but I don't believe Khan has the power to keep Maidana off the whole fight. If Khan sees off the first 7 rounds he will win EASY. I just think Maidana at some stage will land and Khan could easily go down. I am playing the dog here..

I think the Khan people (specifically Roach) are intent on avoiding Maidana for now.  Here's what Dan Rafael said about it in his notebook yesterday:

 

Schaefer said he's talking to HBO about scheduling junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan's American debut for April 10. "Amir will have his own date, and one fight HBO is very interested in is Juan Manuel Marquez," Schaefer told ESPN.com. "Amir facing Marquez live on HBO, now that's a big fight, isn't it?" Other bouts being discussed for Khan include Paulie Malignaggi and Juan Diaz. But Golden Boy also needs to sort out the situation with Khan's mandatory against Marcos Maidana during a two-week window it has received from the WBA. Schaefer, who co-promotes Maidana, said his manager is coming to Los Angeles to meet with about the situation.

 

It seems to me that Maidana may be getting some step-aside money here.

Yahoo has they as tentative agreement, 5dimes has the line up Khan -155 Maidana is  +115

Kind of odd Golden Boy starts promoting him and he now faces what some would say a not so smart fight.

First   Jorge Linares, then Diaz, now Khan.. all three prospects  signed by GBP and two went down already.

We knew Diaz had a suspect chin, why put him in with a power puncher like Maidana? Bad decision.

I know GBP wasn't prompting Khan when he lost to Prescott, but you can tell Khan has a weak chin. Why would GBP  face him off with Maidana? ( I know it's Mandatory).

I know Maidana isn't a household name, heck he's a c+ "boxer" at best, but he can get off the canvas, and better yet has one thing Khan cannot take.. a BIG PUNCH.

Dangerous fight for Khan assuming he takes it, maybe one of those fights.. you DO pay step aside money :)

Let's see how it plays out, I don't trust "tentative" deals, involving GBP and Freddie Roach.

My bet would be he faces Juan Diaz, believe it or not Paulie just like in the Diaz fight  IS the BIGGER man, not a big puncher but can absorb more punches from other guys because size wise he's bigger. (When you can take Punches from a Prime Cotto at 147, believe me you can take a 135/140  punch).

Diaz brings a guaranteed pressure fight with very little left in the tank, he can easy be out boxed, out punched and seems like a name perfect for someone crossing the pond and wants exposure without being exposed :-)

Paulie on the other hand, will never lay down for anyone, and is TOO BIG for Khan.

Marquez is a decent matchup, why? Because we've seen Marquez at 135 and he didn't look too good, his power didn't come along with it. We saw Marquez move UP to about 145 and well he looked like an old man (no disrespect love him as a fighter).

Marquez even at a higher weight than 130 (where he's best) still poses too much risk for Khan so early in his career. We know Marquez has a great jab, good counter puncher, and can cut off the ring.

I say give him the dead duck called Juan Diaz  so he can make a good splash in the U.S.        

Ack when I said GBP has lost two fighter's already that was Jorge Linares, Victor Ortiz (not Diaz) and now GBP is promoting KHAN.

Sorry for the mix up .. love to see  if GBP can pay Maidana enough to step aside, since Maidana has already beaten GBP's best Prospect Ortiz, and is a dangerous challenge to Khan's CHIN.
