   The Low-Down of HBO's Commentating are Clowns!
   Lampley is an annoying joke and he calls a fight like only one person is in the ring. It is now to the point, he wins the Oscar award for the most biased announcer in sports history. Dennis Miller announcing Monday Night Football was a sports and televsion broadcasting disaster. Whoever came up with that idea, along with whoever stood to second that idea, and whatever committee member that had power to veto the entire idea,... all I can say is what in the fu%#in' world is going on!
   Merchant always annoyed me with his sarcasm and this is a man that "gets off" on hearing himself speak. His ego is bigger than anyone in boxing, including Floyd. I don't care for Floyd personally, but I'm glad he called out Merchant.
   Skipbone: The only part I disagree is with Lederman. I feel he is always very accurate on his scorecard and is one of the very few that provide any value within that crew.
   Kellerman use to be a decent boxing analyst before he was hosting ESPN's "Around the Horn". After he started doing that and other auditions and beginning to attempt being more well rounded in all sports knowledge is when he lost his focus on boxing.
   Steward is one of the most knowledgeable people in boxing and is an asset to a broadcasting crew. He often is not the smoothest with words or timing comments, but he will give you the information that is accurate.
   Now to the former fighters. George Foreman (former) was funny only because he contradicted himself every other minute. George often tried to stay unbiased unlike others. Lennox Lewis (former) was a commentator many people never cared for but I thought he was fair, but he was also intelligent and offered boxing information on an expertise level. Roy Jones Jr is also an expert in boxing analysis but not the best with words and sentences. He does offer glimpses of subtle but very important changes most announcers don't see (because Roy aside from being so good was also very accurate in his assessment of fighters).

RJ is the best...steward and kellerman are corprate men.  bring back RJJ for good, get rid of merchant and steward.  

HBO has by far the best team, if you guys are this hard on them I would like to see what you think about showtime or espn,    and since I mentioned espn lets talk about teddy atlas, obviously one of the most knowledgeable guys in the sport and if you don't know anything about the boxing than his commentary will teach you a ton, but once you get past the novice stage, atlas in my opinion is one of the worst ever, he repeats him self a least 5 to 6 times per round and is constantly telling us what each fighter should be doing rather than what they are  doing, shit if everyone did what they were suppose to do than everyone would be ray robinson for fuck sakes. after listening to teddy for 2 hours I feel like banging my head against the fucking wall. and with they way the budget has declined for friday night fights teddy will only get worse, of course a fighter with a 12-9 record is not going to fight a perfect disiplined fight that is why he is 12-9, call it like you see it not how you think it should be, now  back to lampley, he is somewhat biased at times but is still much better than most of the guys the other nextworks have, HBO is still light years  ahead of the competition and I do not see that changing anytime soon.  

I remember when Sunday Night Football had Joe Theisman as a commentator. So many people were annoyed by his ongoing chatter I remember visiting my friends apartment and he'd have the sound off. The one positive thing Theisman offered was an intellectual explanation of what and why teams were running certain offense or defensive schemes.
  As he was a quarterback for so many years and was under the tutelage of a great coach... Joe Gibbs. He was the only coach to bring one team and win 3 super-bowls using 3 different quarterbacks each time (Joe Theismann, Doug Williams, and Mark Rypien). During his first 12 seasons (before his 1st retirement) he held a win rate of 68%, made the playoffs 8 times, and went to 4 super-bowls (won 3).
   During the game, Theisman explained that the defense had switched and why, thus giving many people at that time a better understanding of NFL match-up dynamics. That's what Teddy Atlas does but he rambles on as well. Emanuel Steward although he is not built for quick wits commentating, he offers a better understanding to the boxing laymen.

 

Is this serious?  Kellerman is the exact opposite of a 'corprate' man.  He's taken so many shots at HBO in the past year at the end of telecasts (ex. calling out their relationship with Al Haymon when they put Gary Russell's 8 rounder on the air).  And Roy?  C'mon.  Max: "Roy, how is xxxx able to keep the fight at this distance.......?"  Roy:  "He's using the talents that God gave him...."  All crap from Roy.  He's the worst. 

I like the whole HBO crew a lot (except Roy).  I believe this thread is more about, "I bet on Peterson and Lampley is praising Khan....".  Mans game.  Stop crying.
