McGregor will lose this fight. It's up to him on how he decides to. While this prize fight undoubtably sets himself up for life, this fight result has a much larger consequence on his future potential gain than Mayweather.
This is exactly how I imagine the fight turning out:
Early rounds: Floyd has announced he will come out, and be aggressive. This is BS. He'll stand around and let Conor dictate tempo. If Conor comes out swinging for the fences, he gets KO'd. Floyd rides off into the sunset 50-0, and everyone downplays his win for being a mismatch, and Conor is made a fool of.
This won't happen. McGregor will come out smart, aggressive, full of energy and confidence. He DOES have the cardio to go hard for 12, don't let anyone tell you different. I imagine McGregor to look damn good for a while. Unorthodox combinations followed up with feint jabs transitioning into an opportunity to fight out of a clinch -- Ooo's from the crowd are just that. McGregor landing a few bombs into Floyd's elbows will likely be his offensive highlights of the night.
Early-Middle rounds: Sr. gives instructions on what he wants, and the show begins. Floyd is going to tag Conor with some hard mf'ing counter bombs, and McGregor needs to re-evaluate. But no worries.. he has B, C, D, and an E plan if needed. It won't matter, as Mayweather has W, X, Y, Z plans.
Middle rounds: There is going to be an exact moment where everyone unanimously agrees the tides have definitively turned into Floyd's favor. Conor very may well be conditioning himself to go 12, but he won't be made a bean bag under there circumstances. Even if he shows early round flashes before Floyd gets going, Mayweather is more than capable of looking like a prime RJJ going all out in a sparring session for the rest of the fight.
**This is where Mayweather will figuratively lock the decision up. He'll be walking Conor down ala what he did to Zab Judah. Conor can shell up for the duration, and look to land that one bomb. He'll be pieced up, and made an example of. This too hurts his reputation. No chance this happens either....***
McGregor will only be momentarily demoralized. At the end of a bell, he'll take in the overwhelming Irish crowd, be extremely content with his payday and fact he gave it all he had to this point, and he'll come to lay everything on the line. Mayweather will get the better of a wild exchange, and the KO/TKO will be inevitably.
Floyd gets his storybook ending. His legacy means everything to him, and with Floyd being Floyd, he wants people to remember him going out with a bang. While he'd be perfectly okay with beating the piss out of Conor for 12 rounds, McGregor's warrior spirit is going to force him to close out the matter.
Conor attempted the impossible. Held his own, and went out on his shield. - Most importantly, in a fight which was not lopsided on the scorecard, nor to the eye. Fans will be generally pleased with the PPV.
TL;DR:
Prediction: Mayweather via TKO Round 7 only after exhausting all options, and avoiding embarrassment.
Mayweather will learn a ton from this fight, and become an even bigger force to be reckoned with in the UFC. I can already see Pauli trying to get Conor next after the KO.. a fight I would favor Conor in.
Bet: Mayweather via KO/TKO/DQ (-165) $12000/$7500
--- Just don't drink the kool aid! From the second this fight was in concrete, Mayweather immediately starting pouring on the narrative that he "feels old", "100% last fight, body won't allow me to do this anymore", ect. Dana White, Rogan, and Shaub have been the loudest voices in the room. The media blitzkrieg has been out of control from the jump.
REALLY TL;DR:
Max Kellerman is going to skull f*** everyone's ears tomorrow.
