I love the Lebedev in this spot. He isn't a household name, so the line
is a gift. This is a mandatory fight. When Huck selects a guy, it's
someone like Brian Minto. Although I have love for the local guy, he is the textbook definition of an "opponent."
I expect Lebedev to put him to sleep. Lebedev has already had this type of uphill battle
when he fought Enzo. He made
sure that one was never in doubt and I expect he'll do the same again.
ITD seems to be the only way to play him, since he'll never get the nod
in Deutschland.

Hopkins's body is starting to look like that of a 46 year old man. The
ability to produce lean muscle is gone at that age, unless you are
taking something to replace your natural testosterone level.
I
think we can rule out a Hopkins KO, since that hasn't happened since the
liver shot to DLH when DLH was moving up a couple weight classes. That
was six years ago too.
So Bernard would have to dominate every
round or knockout Pascal to get a win. Can Bernard even dominate rounds
with his style? The close rounds he usually wins go to the house fighter
and champion. With such limited activity from him these days as far as
punch output goes, I don't see it happening.
Lastly, this is the
same place where Funeka won almost every round against Guzman and
didn't get the win. Guzman wasn't even a house fighter and the judges
already had that one decided. Funeka was probably lucky to get the draw,
all things considered. They gave Bute a 20 count against Andrade. If
that wasn't enough, it should have been waved off before he hit the
canvas, if not the second his butt touched it.
I honestly can't
find a reason that a gambler shouldn't put every expendable nickel they
have on Pascal. I know Hopkins is an ATG and he always finds a way to
pull a rabbit out when his back is against the wall. With that being
said, he just hasn't had it for quite some time now and he couldn't be
in a worse situation than the one he'll face Saturday. I just hope it
isn't a bad ending to a legendary career.

Pascal, -205, 41 units.
I don't think the Canadian bias(ref, judges) will be as big in this fight considering that Hopkins(GBP) is co-promoting the whole card. For the Pascal fight you have 1 judge from Canada, 1 from USA, and 1 from Belgium.
41 units is alot. Don't forget Hopkins is taller with longer reach and Pascal looked like shit against Dawson's jab late in their fight. Pascal has too many flaws for me to put big money on him. Pascal is in his prime yet he still only fights in spurts. Pascal has no head movement. Pascal's ONLY good counterpunch is the counter left hook which is easy to duck under. Pascal begins combos with wide punches (thats how Dawson hurt him). Also Pascal has a leaky defense which he gets away with because he'll often back away, but if you maintain the pressure and follow him Pascal gets spooked.
If I can see these flaws, you better belive Hopkins sees em too. Hopkins will try to maintain an outside fight with his superior footwork, speed, height, reach, and jab...and then of course Hopkins will pick his spots to get inside and catch breathers. Trust me this fight will be close.

Sorry, I think you are absolutely NUTS to wager your entire profit bank against a guy like Hopkins. Do I think Pascal will win?... probably. BUT, I can see Hopkins winning the fight on everyone's card except the judges in Canada, and that's what counts I suppose.
I am predicting a very, very sketchy decision given to Pascal. If I can find a points prop I will be unloading on Hopkins. Otherwise, I will play a small bit on the Draw hoping that it is so evident that the judges just can't give the fight to pascal and are forced to score it a Draw.

The interesting part about that is the points prop out there (Pascal -6.5) went from -115 yesterday to Hopkins -160, Pascal +130. I almost balked, but I'm trusting my homework will pay off.

I cant understand how naive some fans can be. For one, betting Pascal at -210 is retarded. If you're gonna bet him, play on him at +100 by DEC. He is NOT knocking out Bernard.
Also, for the people who believe Pascal is gonna blow thru Hopkins....you have your head in the clouds. Pascal is not THAT great that he can blast thru this legend with ease. Pascal may very well win, but he's damn sure in for a serious battle. Bet against Bernard at your own risk.

I dont know how anyone could cap this fight and think a relative novice like Pascal would blow through the great Hopkins. I just dont get how one to could come to that conclusion.

Nobody said anything about blowing through. I ruled out a Hopkins KO, or him getting the win on the cards. Neither one of those happened, did they?
