You have a middleweight you brings his best every bout. Yes, he is not technically as versed or savvy as the legends, but he doesn't let up. He is an action fighter, and something more what boxing needs. People can criticize the division, but the man is always up to the task. He fights all the top ranked opponents and win a majority by KO. More fighters need his zest and willingness to bring it every moment against anyone.
Would you rather watch a legend like Sugar Ray Leonard fight Hagler and dance for twelve rounds, or Martinez fight another champ and go toe-to-toe. What Leonard did many fights is much different than Mayweather did... Mayweather strategically broke down his opponents with movement and countering, Leonard many times just got on his bicycle instead of any engagement. I'm not comparing the two, but when people comment how the past champions laugh at today's middleweight's, some should step back and see if they consistently brought it like Martinez does. Hagler did, Hearns did when he could, and Leonard did when he felt like it!!!
Any thoughts the same or different?

If your going to criticize Leonard, go ahead and do the same for a legend like Roy Jones, who many times did not engage, but used his natural gifts to win many fights. Leonard was very smart not to engage with a bigger and stronger Hagler.

guys that have great boxing ability that stick to the game plan of using their boxing ability alone to win the fight and have the discipline to not exchange with a slower opponent are very, very tough to beat, guys like willie pep, pernell whitaker, ray leonard, tommy loughran,  benitez when he was younger, for me I love to see the science of the sport just as much as seeing two fighters go to war. as for you question ZOUK, yes I would rather see a great fighter like leonard use his brain, discipline  boxing ability and ring generalship win him a fight than watch a fighter like martinez  who simply came around at the right time in his divisions, martinez is good,  but not great, If he was around when tito trinidad, was at 154 or hopkins was at 160,  he would of been beaten badly,  martinez is good,  but it drives me crazy when people put him in the top 3 or 4 p4p, a technically flawed fighter, who is a good athlete that came around at the right time, that is martinez

I agree with the p4p as over a dozen guys under welterweight are more deserving. Leonard was very smart as Jones was, but Roy got to a point he had never taken a punch, and the longer you go, the more fearful you are. It is like the stereotype on older people being conservative... it fits the model.
Leonard told Hearns how to be Benitez who when people name Hearns, Hagler and Leonard I am often disappointed Benitez is not mentioned.
Glad you mention Tito, as he was one of my favorite fighters at heart.
I was at the fights tonight and I bet a draw as the fight was -140/+120... only $25 for fun. First draw I ever bet, or at least won.
