    For May-I-Cheat-Oh Mar-ga-ri-to...
After allegedly using plaster wraps (he did) and fought Cotto in 2008 and destroyed Cotto late while causing cuts and swelling to Cotto's face, and next to fight Mosley and had to re-wrap his hands under the request by Mosley's trainer, and then got destroyed suffering his first knockout loss. Besides the plaster wraps as a physical advantage, it's a huge motivation factor when a fighter knows his punches will cause more damage later in the fight without having to exert increased energy. So Mosley (and his team) took the spirit and physical advantage away and it showed.
Getting destroyed by Manny, then Cotto stopped him in the 10th because of swelling but Cotto was ahead 89-82 on all scorecards.
Margarito had a win over Garcia mid 2010 and that was the only spark of positivity from him.
He has nothing to offer the future of boxing and should be considered a criminal and banned for life (had the commissions did a very thorough investigation).
The WBA was on the hook for the serious damage done to Cotto as they also were the governing body when Mosley exposed him in and out of the ring! Had they found plaster and had Margarito admit to it, the WBA would have been facing some serious charges from Cotto and possibly previous fighters who claimed what Cotto said regarding the hard punches causing cuts.
Margarito brings nothing positive to boxing. The mosley fight he was shocked knowing he had no wraps and suffered his first early stop loss by knockout, as the psychology played a role on him that he realized his later round advantage was gone. He did prepare for Manny and took a serious beating, and then the same against Cotto in the rematch.
Margarito's career had he not been involved in any illegal controversy could have been better... why you ask. He would have had to learn to adjust and fight more defensively instead of using the wraps as a short-cut.
Now with a washed up career and a fight headed toward late summer, he should retire and take some responsibility regarding any illegal activities.

BTW- For those that have never boxed, any minor thing done to your wraps, tape or gloves you can tell very easily without throwing a punch. Then when you do punch, you know! For him (and other fighters) to have claimed they couldn't tell is straight out B.S.!!!

Start cleaning up the sport from corrupt governing bodies, judges, refs, promoters, trainers and fighters as well as any other involved individuals.

most will never forgive margarito and I am not saying that he deserves it,  but what I am saying is why the hell does MOSLEY seem to get a get off the hook as he is the biggest cheater of them all, from the wilfredo rivera fight up until the first winky wright fight the man was on the "JUICE",  as span of ten fights, to me mosley is much worse than margarito, using what margarito used is a huge advantage no doubt but mostly on a perspective of protecting his own hands, using steriods is a much bigger advantage.  to me you can throw these 2 in with, arron pryor, mcguire, sosa, bonds, and half the tour de france.  punk ass mother fuckers who can't do it for real.

margarito hand the hardened substance on underneath his handwraps and then underneath 8 or 10 oz gloves, it is not as though these are gloves from the 40 's in which you can push the padding back, what he used was for protection of his own hands,  is it cheating yes,  but not as it is being perceived by the media and you too zouk.

As I pointed out, Margarito was losing psychological advantage. Knowing he had an edge (even if it was placebo effect physically), then you strip him of it just before the fight, he loses his fighting spirit. Manny he knew he wouldn't have that edge, so he was mentally prepared. Mosley he wasn't mentally prepared, therefore he lost his willpower.

If what Margarito was doing wasn't as close truth wise to the hype regarding it, then why after Cotto's intial bout did Richardson (Mosley's trainer) sit and watch the hands being taped and wrapped before he fought Mosley? Then he got destroyed! His first loss due to knockout. Then Manny wrecked him. Then Cotto, the guy everyone said was finished, walked through and picked Margarito apart and the accumulation of damage caused the TKO! To me, that is to many coincidences for a man just protecting his hands! It seems more like they did more than just protect his hands... but maybe it was all just perfect timing.

richardson watched because he is obligated to, at least someone from his team is, this happens in every fight, and since he was caught doing something illegal, this only magnified it,  expirement with this zouk,  put some hard shit on your hand, then wrap them and then put a 10 oz glove on and you will see what I mean, I knew a guy that did this in the amateurs, but only on his right hand as he had damaged his nuckles, obviously amateurs is different, but this is not plaster of paris jack dempsey consperacies trust me,  95 percent to protect his own hands, 5 percent power and 5 may be streatching it, and if you watch the mosley fight again you will see that margarito was sleepwalking during this one, he reportedly had some issues with the weight,  it was not the gloves that lost the mosley fight,  it was his body and in reality mosley is superior to him anyways, but fuck both of these punks especially mosley aka the biggest cheater of them all.

Mosley's last fight against Canelo, if I had to bet, I would bet he was juicing somehow. I hate when fighters say, I didn't know. More than 90% time, it BS. Nutrition experts make a difference but it takes considerable time, not 6 weeks prep for a fight and you become much stronger and faster. Sorry folks, diet and training is long hard work, that's why so few do it!!!!

Margarito had a huge advantage with the wrapped hands. Do you remember the fight with the guys ear hanging off? That is not normal. He also shorten some fighter careers. Cotto was kicking his ass til the wraps came into play. Cotto would have won with no wraps, so it was more than protection, Margarito got his karma, with his career ending with an injury and Cotto got a second life after that loss that should not have been set him back for years (he would not had to fight Manny at a catchweight if he was still the champ either). Fitting way for everything to end, Cotto might go to the hall of fame and Margarito will always be remembered as a cheater.

I know what you are saying and I'm familiar with the coating. The problem is the late round effectiveness of his punches. If it wasn't so drastic, I would consider it, but unfortunately I'd need more proof to support his claims of innocence as it appears in the manner of how they applied it and then denied, and the drastic results differential.
You make a good point and I know people who did that as well, but the results they had weren't even close as drastic.

the reason their results were not as drastic is because what he did is for protecting your hands, not for punching power, margarito hit his peak and was simply not as good after the cotto fight,  this is a fact,  he slowed down drastically,  just watch the film,  the man was in his mid 30's and had hit his peak,  fighters of margarito's style often get old in a short period of time, think terry mcgovern,  it's just the timing of this hurts him. not trying to protect margarito here, as I have never been a fan,  but this is not plaster pairis, it was for protection. if anyone would just experiment with what he did,  buy putting a hard substance under hand wraps then under 10oz gloves, you will see that I am right here.

Didn't the wraps that Margarito use get harder as the fight went on?  He got old after his best win, against old Mosely. No, he lost his advantage and went down in flames. What about Lujan's ear hanging off? Has that ever happened before?  Didn't Freddy Roach say that Margarito broke one of his fighters face in sparring before? Too many strange things have happened to say there was no unfair advantage. He is a cheater.

Soul is very knowledgeable, especially regarding the little things only boxers who have been around the scene and intricately for a while. I learned a lot 20 years ago from so serious old timers. They even tied one arm to my side, put the rope on my legs so I had to have balance to counter (even when moving away), and I thought they were going to have me hit the mitts... LOL- They put me in the ring against a golden glove fighter and told him not to unleash, but to give me problems.
This started very early in boxing when they asked me if I felt I had a weak spot, or I felt a lack of confidence in the ring, and what was the biggest factor or one of them. Orthodox style, I had a lack of confidence with a power hook, not the half jab-half hook, but the full torque with elbow leveled and rotation. It was more a confidence builder so I didn't stray from using it and become an easier fighter to breakdown.
Soul... I've done what you said along time ago, as I had problems with my forearms, similar to many fighters have problems with their hands. Originally they thought is was my tendons needed to be strengthened, but we worked on that but that might have been a factor but it came down to mass energy. I was hitting extremely hard (not power generated like Foreman), build the punch they call bone crunching. It put an extreme amount of stress of my forearm (bone), and caused extreme pain. I spoke to many athletes and specialists... they best way to fix it was like people who break bricks, stone, wood, ice... etc.... 500 years ago Shoalin used the technique kicking tree (bamboo) and many thought it was just myth and not science. Now with modern technology if you view a normal bone, it looks half empty. As they do this treacherous workout, they break small areas in their shins (forearms too), and the calcification process rebuilds the bone stronger (similar to a major break, but it doesn't disfigure you). They showed this among competitors that break any object for a living.
Sorry to be off-track, I just found it interesting that what they thought was a foolish practice and harmful turned out to be a scientific way of building your bones like steel. Muay Thai fighters use their shins like a lethal weapon.

as for margarito, this type of cheating is for protecting your hands, every fighter knows this, it was not plaster of paris like dempsey, that got heavier and harder if it got wet, this is not what it was, although people have seemed to portray it like this,   is protecting the hands cheating?, YES, people have just taken this situation the wrong way

I never compared Margarito situation to Dempsey or anyone, just the history and results of the named fighter. I remember a video tape I have with Marciano during his prime standing next to Dempsey, and Dempsey looked huge (even for an older guy). Also, his hands were big and he had the rare structure where all the knuckles are almost straight across, making it like a T structure, so when hitting opponents even partially, they felt a larger percent as more of the hand connected as compared to a normal hand.
