Damn it!!! Floyd Mayweather Jr's comeback fight against Juan Manuel Marquez has been postponed after the unbeaten former welterweight champion sustained a rib injury.
The American, who has not fought since stopping Britain's Ricky Hatton in December 2007, was set to meet Mexico's world lightweight kingpin Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in his hometown of Las Vegas on July 18.
However, the contest is now off after Mayweather Jr suffered an injury during a training session, fight co-promoters Golden Boy announced on Sunday.
"I am extremely disappointed that this fight has to be postponed," Mayweather Jr said in a statement.
"I was training very hard and looking forward to getting back in the ring on July 18."
Marquez, from his training camp in Mexico, added: "I was very disappointed to hear the news about the fight being postponed.
"I will remain focused, in shape and ready to fight whenever the fight is rescheduled for."

Read that ticket sales for this one were going very poorly. Pacquiao is fighting Cotto on Nov. 14, and I don't think Arum will want to bump Cotto for Mayweather. Cotto may be a bigger draw anyhow, and he has the extra benefit of posing no real threat of beating his cash cow.

I would love to see Pacman get his ass kicked by Cotto. No real threat? If Cotto can land ANYTHING... he destroys Pacman. However, he is probably too slow and way too wide open for 1,000,000 straight left hands. If he (Cotto) can do some good body work early, this could be something to see...
Line guesses? Pac -275 seems about right.

I see no way that Cotto beats Pacman. I haven't seen Cotto's punching power post Margarito. He won't be able to get close and slow Manny down to the body. Cotto is so hittable these days, I am pretty sure his career winds down looking more and more like Arturo Gatti. The one thing everyone should have learned from Saturday is that Cotto is badly damaged fade material going forward. The sick thing about it though, is most people will remember it only as a blood and guts war where he showed great heart and great chin.
Because of Pac's 2 big wins being somewhat discredited and Cotto's size and popularity, I would say Pac -200 is the high end they may open at.

i was thinking the same thing as njdevils, maybe mayweather realized the fight everyone wants to see is him and manny and he doesnt want to ruin his monster payday for this fight by taking the chance that him or manny lose before they have the chance to fight. arum wants a cotto pacquiao fight but if he could get this megafight in the works plus cotto with marquez or mosley I gotta think hed love that.
