MIGUEL COTTO vS. alfonso gómez

It is said AG will give MC a fight, I don't think so.  The question is, what round will AG be knocked out in?  I believe that he will stand up and fight for maybe 5 rounds. Then he will get pummeled by Miguel's vicious blows.  So, my pick is UNDER 9.5 @ -150.

Who said AG would give him a fight?AG is a club fighter Cotto is World Class in every aspect of his game i agree with your pick nighty night AG

I obviously agree with what you guys are saying and do like Cotto in the fight easily.

I take issue with you calling Alfonso Gomez "a club fighter." It's not like he has fought nobodies since The Contender like a Mora. The guy beat Arturo Gatti and Ben Tackie convincingly.

Is your definition of club fighter any fighter not in the P4P top 20? I feel like this term is thrown around far too much.

Gomez is not on Cotto's level and probably not on the championship level at all, but he has done enough to not be degraded as a club fighter.

Just my opinion.

Agree with the play big time.  I have said pretty much everything I can regarding this fight over the past couple of months and my thoughts haven't changed.

Gotti was washed  Gotti 5 yrs ago would stopped Gomez  in 6 rnds Tackie was decent about 7 yrs ago when he beat my homie Ray Ray (Olivera) but even both them guys i never really thought they were that good.Gotti been living off the Mickey Ward wars when ever he fought a great fighter he got fucked up.I call AG a club fighter becouse with out the contender thats where he would be he had 2 loses before the contender started.I cant knock none of the 3 fighters and i dont mean the term club fighter to be disrespectfull.Ive been in the ring with some good club fighters and some world champs the difference is night and day.I cant even phathom the difference between a Cotto or Mayweather it must be rediculous Im loving the under in this fight and Tarver

It's hard to imagine AG winning this fight.  But I will tell you this; this fight could play out a lot like the Ricardo Torres fight.  And Torres had Cotto seriously hurt in their encounter before Cotto caught up to him around the 7th round.  AG is a bit taller than Cotto, like Torres, and both Torres and AG can throw a lot of punches.  Cotto might have trouble with fighters that bend but do not break, all characteristics of Gomez.  I can't call upset here, but this should be a very entertaining fight.

Torres was undefeated and a natural puncher. Gomez is neither by a long shot. This is simply a showcase fight, and I plan to bet the under pretty strongly, especially if I make it over to AC. Consider that Shane Mosley also held height and reach advantages over Cotto, and neither was a factor in their fight. I haven't found anyone who feels Cotto was the smaller man in the ring that night, and you would be the first to suggest Gomez would be the bigger man Saturday.

Gomez doesn't have half the power that Torres does. Nor does he have as weak a chin or as bad of defense. I can see Gomez taking this one the distance and losing 9-3 on the cards.

I agree with Kidcole and the Orangeman.  I don't think Gomez is a bum.  He comes into the ring in shape, takes the game seriously, and is a solid threat to go the distance and/or make you look awkward or workmanlike in any given fight.  For guys that don't come in the ring in shape, or are past their prime (like Gatti), he'll steal their brownies.  I'm going with the over 9.5 in this fight at even money.

i think Gomez is decent. i dont think he gets KOd but i just think he gets beaten up for 12 rounds

gomez is a good fighter......he loves being the underdog and people thinking he has no chance....just like when he fought manfreido jr. on the contender......when manfreido was ranked #2 in the country and with only 1 loss and gomez beat him up real good...........u guys might be surprised by gomez in this fight...and he has the power to ko cotto!
 
i played the doggy...gomez he is a solid fighter and has a chance at +800 ill take a shot for $50 to win $400

KO cotto??   you gotta be kidding me lexus....the only time ive ever seen cotto even get touched was when he fought lovermore and trust me that decision was close....but to say hell be knocked down or even knocked out??   youve fallen off your rocker...this is THE BEST fighter ever to come out of Puerto Rico and hes not stoppin til he fights Mayweather....thats why I've seen the odds listed at atleast -1200 in some places...Vegas aint stupid this one will go to Cotto decision or knockout....all depends on how Gomez can take that jab cause Cotto will land it about 150-200 on his face tonight

Cotto showed true professionalism in that last round. He basically took the round off to not "hurt" Gomez.

yeah he was just kind of coasting after that beating he gave him in the prior round
 
i think margaritio beats cotto though... cotto still gets hit a lot

Yeah, but Marg isn't a one punch type KO guy.  I think Cotto wins a decision.
