Mixed martial artist Jorge Ortiz, who last fought on the June 8 Total Combat event in San Diego, Calif., has tested positive for Nandrolone Metabolite reported the California State Athletic Commission.
According to the CSAC, “He has been fined $2,500. His suspension period runs from the conclusion of his bout on June 8, 2007 through the remainder of his licensing year, which is March 19, 2008. Furthermore, he has been assessed an additional 80 days in order to fulfill the terms of his suspension (365 total days). The additional days will be added at the beginning of his next licensing year when he reapplies.”
Nandrolone Metabolite is the same anabolic steroid, which occurs naturally in small quantities in the human body, that Royce Gracie tested positive for following his recent bout with Kazushi Sakuraba in Los Angeles. Gracie also received the maximum fine of $2,500 and a 12-month suspension.
