Pacquiao to fight Clottey, Roach says

To stay active and make money.

At this point in both of their careers (Cotto/Clottey) Joshua is a bigger threat to Pacquiao than Cotto was. Does that mean I think Clottey could beat Pacquiao ??? Probably Not. But if there was ever such a thing as a "sandwich" spot in boxing this would be it. I'd really have to question Manny's motivation here. Without the Mayweather fight, what else is out there? His legacy ( even at 31 years young) is pretty much secured. Not to mention all the other things he has setup outside the ring that will ultimately become his life after boxing. Manny made it clear a year and a half ago that he only wanted a couple more BIG fights and that would be it for him. Since then he has fought Oscar in December of 08', Hatton in May of 09' and Cotto in November of 09'. Without a Mayweather fight, which would be a perfect ending to a legendary career, what's the point ?? If they didn't think they still had a shot at working something out with PBF in the future, Manny would be better served to just hang it up and get on with the rest of his life. I think the last thing any Pacquiao fan wants to see is him being unprepared and unmotivated and potentially being upset by a hungry fighter like Clottey.

I can say this with certainty, Pacquiao's next opponent will be a much bigger challenge to him than the "handpicked" opponent Mayweather will sign to fight. Did I hear Paulie Malignaggi ?? C'mon MAN!!  It's the Mayweather way...... keep Floyd's perfect record intact by all means necessary.  Hell, he should just hang it up too. What's the point??

Most of logical fighter is with GBP stable, the only other fighter stands up other than that is Bradley. I think Clottey is an easier fights to make since both are in TR stable. People think Clottey is just a gate keeper but he is a live dog that can upset the PACMAN. This is a much much challenge than Paulie M. which rumored to be fighting Money May. Paulie needs to go Olympic style testing in Nevada to have a shot. It will be an epic dancing with the stars if the fight happens.

If the fight is legit Clottey  would be my pick over Pac-man, but being he's Arum's puppet the fight is a NO play for me.

Think about how much Clottey makes.. just by hanging around..  he waited for a few years to get Cotto.. did just enough to leave Cotto with some respect .. so Cotto could fight Pac-man (Arum and Pac-man were RING side scouting Cotto).

Now it seems YURI Foreman (Arum's fighter) is going to fight Cotto (one last fight for Cotto) then  Cotto is out of the Picture.

I feel bad for Cotto he is better off fighting a power puncher.. who will KO him early than a guy who gives him a head beating for many rounds.

Back on topic, NO Paulie is NOT a better fighter than Clottey, but we know Paulie will NOT lay down in a fight, where as Clottey would (Boxing is a business and it makes sense for him to take this fight)

You don't find it strange Arum is pitting his best fighters together? Only one way someone could do that is if there's an agreement.

Sort of Like Cotto/Clottey had.

You may not like my take on Pac-man since the  steroid thing came out, but all I did was relay the message Teddy Atlas said on ESPN 2.

I also ripped Floyd also, both of them are wrong, it's about time we stop talking about these clowns.

Floyd will be fighting the winner of Mosley/Berto.. it makes sense.

Personally I hope Floyd and Pac-man BOTH LOSE they deserve it. BOTH walked away from 40 + MILLION $$$ and shit on us boxing fans!

I would like to see Floyd fight Timothy Bradley but too bad most casual fans don't really know his name.

Yes Clottey is a better match up than anyone Floyd will fight (unless he fights Mosley). Question is do you trust Bob Arum? I don't..

Cotto is not done. Stop counting him out please. He beat Clottey with one eye. And yes many say it was a close fight and it was but the fact of the matter is cotto boxed him with one eye. If he had 2 eyes wonder how the rest of the fight would of took place. Cotto has so much heart. The guy is only 29/30 years of age? I mean the guy took a beating from Margacheato with loaded gloves and Manny with PEDs, and thats it. Cotto is a beast who fights anyone. He fights all the fighters nobody wants to. If Cotto was getting KO'd by people then ok it'd be time to hangem up.

Clottey was destroying Cotto? Thats a pretty funny statement. Destroying yet he lost the fight. Clottey didn't even get a knock down let alone stun Cotto at all in the fight. Sure he landed the more crisp/cleaner shots i agree. Cotto was in survival mode from the 4th round on because of blood gettin in his eye yet he still BOXED Clottey to a victory(keyword Boxed). Clottey didn't do shit in the 'Championship rounds' which is why he lost.

Cotto could of easily won the first 4 of the first 5 rounds against Manny. The second knock down is what hurt Cotto and threw him off the rest of the fight. That could of happend to any fighter, Not because hes damaged goods or he isn't the same fighter as everyone says. Cotto was pounding Mannys head in with hard sharp jabs and looking good till he got cought. Anyone could get cought and not be the same fighter the rest of the way.
