Paulie Malignaggi vs. Lovemore N'Dou - 5/24/08
This is a build up fight for the much anticipated Malignaggi Vs Hatton fight.
On February 4 2007 in Sydney, Ndou fought and defeated Naoufel Ben Rabah in an IBF World Light Welterweight Title Eliminator for the right to meet current title holder Ricky Hatton, after Hatton had won the title against Juan Urango in Las Vegas, USA two weeks earlier. Hatton however refused the IBF's demand that he fight Ndou for the IBF World Light Welterweight Title, instead scheduling a fight against Jose Luis Castillo. Following Hatton's decision, the IBF stripped Hatton of the IBF World Light Welterweight Title, awarding Ndou the title on February 12 2007. Ndou lost his first title defense on June 16 2007 against American Paul Malignaggi in Uncasville, Connecticut,
On June 16, 2007, Malignaggi defeated Lovemore N'dou via a 12 round unanimous decision to win the IBF World Junior Welterweight Championship. The bout was one-sided with one judge awarding Malignaggi a 120-106 score.
On January 5, 2008, Malignaggi was the winner against Herman Ngoudjo in a highly competitive match. Malignaggi controlled the fight with his jab until he was stunned in the 7th round, but Ngoudjo failed to finish the job. After the seventh, Ngoudjo became ineffective with his aggression and came up short and lost a wide unanimous decision, which although fair, did not reflect the competitiveness of the fight.
Paulie is not a power puncher so I have this fight going to the over rounds. Also I can not see Paulie losing this fight. This is a show case and warm up fight for the Hatton fight.
