2006 Results (March-July): +19.2 units (+$1,920)
2007 Results: +42.25 units (+$4,225) Last Week: -2.30 units (-$230) 2008 to Date: -18.88 units (-$1,868)
I'm on tonight's main event.
1 unit on Smith by 10rd decision (+417) .30 of a unit on the draw in Smith-Julio (+2200) I think Smith's style matches up really well against Julio. Julio struggles with movement because he doesn't have very quick feet and he has to plant to really throw. Actually, Julio's lack of quickness downstairs is his biggest weakness imo. I see a close fight tonight with Smith's activity deciding whether he can win a decision or not. Hopefully he learned his lesson in the Powell fight.

You made the correct call Fullbrights but yet again Smith only lets his hands go consistently in the last 2 rounds and ends up losing on the cards by 2 points.
He had the skill set to beat Julio but was not active enough. I bet on Smith when the odds were at +240. Close for both of us but no cigar.
My other plays for the weekend will be Oscar/Forbes under 9 1/2 rounds. Forbes has very slick skills but Oscar has the potential to blow away a much smaller man when he does not respect his power.
I will also put some money down on Wilson to beat Arslan. The most likely result is Arslan on points but Arslan's come forward throwing lots of punches style, is going to give Ding a lot of opportunity's to land the bomb.
Good luck all.

That's a really tough break on your play, FB. Smith was coming on very
well in the last three rounds, and I think he would've taken the
decision if it had been a 12-rounder. Regardless, if you really scored
that fight based on landed punches, Smith should've won. I can only
remember one shot that Julio really landed cleanly.
Julio has terrible defense, and I don't know why it took so long for
Smith to realize he could win some exchanges off the counter. If Julio
fights a big puncher like Alfredo Angulo, he's gonna get clobbered.

Appreciate it. Tough break for the both of us, I scored it 95-95 and thought the fight could have gone either way before the decision was announced. That fight was so winnable for Smith even though he didn't use as much movement as I thought he would. He seemed to be rolling more with punches and sitting in the pocket a little longer then I thought he would at times; I guess that was the Roger influence.
You didn't want to play that 11.5 number on that DLH under instead? It was still at +220 last night at thegreek though it has move a good bit since then. The 9.5 may be just as well anyway though because if it goes that long it will go the distance because DLH just isn't active late in fights anymore. Can't say I really disagree playing it on size disparity alone. I don't really have much of a feel here either way.
I like that Wilson play, Arslan has a good chin it seems, but he is very hittable like you said.

Thanks. Yeah, Smith carried the second half of the fight in my opinion 3-2. This fight was kind of like the Sechew fight, he just waited a tad to long to step it up; I guess that throws out the learning from your mistake scenario. He will be kicking himself when he watches the tape of the fight.
I knew I was done when I heard Duane Ford's name announced with the score to follow. The guy simply does not know how to score a fight, how he continues to get gigs is beyond me. I honestly think some nights he just decides to go with whose arms are moving the most. He is a joke.
96-94 Julio or 96-94 Smith are equally reasonable cards in my mind. Another tough break on a decision, they haven't been to kind to me this year. Actually, it's the worst year in my memory in terms of close decisions going against me, but I guess I have 7 more months for lady luck to balance out. I really thought the draw stood a great chance when the final bell rang.
Angulo definitely won't be quite as timid. I still don't know about Alfredo though, I wonder what happens when he is extended a bit because really he isn't that hard to hit either.
You like anything this weekend? Excellent comeback over the past couple of months by the way, good stuff. I need some of that to rub off on me.

Close fight FB. You got a ton of value playing Smith at +417, no doubt about that.
I no played the fight and scored it 5-4-1 to Julio. When is Ishe going
to learn that he's no longer some kind of "untouchable" prospect?
Judges have no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt anymore in
close rounds, especially with that style. What made it doubly
frustrating was that he was obviously better technically, obviously in
better condition, and obviously more effective with his power shots
when he forced Julio to back up. He just didn't do it often enough.
He's turned into the 154 pound Dominick Guinn.

Just watched the fight. That was there for the taking for Smith. There is no reason that he couldn't have fought a couple of the early rounds exactly like he fought the 9th and the 10th. I had it 95-95 even still. As for Julio, he did what he had to do I guess, but I agree with the sentiment that he would be exposed by a big time puncher.

Or maybe he'd be exposed by a crafty southpaw with a little skill and technique?

I just think that discussing Joel Julio as if he has not already been exposed is funny. Quintana has a belt for the reasons I mentioned. He's not a special fighter because that's all he is, a crafty with a little skill and technique. It's not a knock. Maybe he's the "over-hyped prospect exposer" like Tarver's the "Legend Killer."

Getting ready to head to a birthday party so no time for a write up. Know nothing more than what is in black and white about Castaneda, but I just don't think Demarco is very good. Gotta hit one of these draw plays after all these close calls.
.75 of a unit on Castaneda (+300) vs Demarco .25 of a unit on the Draw in Hanshaw-Dirrell (+1600)

I agree LMS, he was exposed by Quintana and also Rivera to an extent. I like that moniker for Carlos.

Haven't seen the card yet. I guess Castaneda wasn't indicative of his record, oh well, that was a chance I was willing to take because I just didn't think Demarco was much against Casal. Anyone who has even a decent skill set and is just active can beat Nick.
Very surprised at the Dirrell-Hanshaw result. Not the fact that Direll won, but rather the fashion. Definitely didn't see him stopping Tony. He needed this after his track meet against Stevens, I thought they may never put him on a major network again if he stunk up the joint last night.
Crap weekend, 0fer, lost 2.3 units for the week. Oh what could have been on WNF.
