considering that they only worked for less than 2 minutes, i thinks that's more than fair.
That is a very jaded perspective..I won't get into how long they train or whatever, I will just say this...it was there name on the marquis, there name sold that PPV at 49.95, take Rampage and Liddell off top of that card and how many tickets get sold? how many PPV's? bottom line is you want to say "well they worked 2 minutes" fine...that is the sport...did Mike Tyson not deserved to get paid when he knocked out Michael Spinks in 90 seconds? and that was a huge payday...Chuck and Rampage don't deserve the same?

If there are fighters who should be bitching about their paychecks it should probably be the guys in the middle of the card who earn 4 figure or low low 5 figure payouts.
I understand they train their asses off for months, but in the end the fans don't watch the fighters to see them train, they watch them to see them fight. I know they don't pay these guys by the round, but considering that this match was pretty much the worlds most exciting staring contest for 90 seconds until someone landed a decent punch, the payouts were probably justified. In the end, I'm not going to lose any sleep for a couple of guys who just made a half a million bucks each for 2 minues of ring work.
On the bright side, I believe that the combined $950K was the highest amount of combined money 2 main event UFC fighers have ever recieved, so the prize purses seem to be going on the rise for now. However, like I said before, the mid and low card fighers are the ones that are really getting the shaft.

This seem to be an argument I constantly find myself in with my girlfriend when she refers to "overpayed athletes", and yes, there are many of those. However, particulary in the case of UFC because it and boxing hit the same demo, I tend to want the athletes who risk there ass to get some coin versus say Don King or in this case, Dana White. Not that Dana is as shifty as King by any means but as I said, its Chuck's and Rampage's name that sold that show, just some rough numbers, ticket prices at $50 - $750, sold out at MGM, maybe $2 million at the gate, 49.95 x 750,000 buys on PPV = alot of fuckin $$$, I just think it all shouldn't be going to one owner particulary in this sport and Classy, you are so right about the undercard guys. AlwaysWin, I hope your right that they do get a percentage. Now in reality, they all drive nicer cars than me so I won't lose any sleep over it, irregardless, Mike Tyson's payday for 90 sec fights, 30 million, Chuck Liddell..500k
