When I heard Ricky Hatton was returning I was shocked. I have no idea what he is trying to prove. Part of me hopes he wins this fight impressively, because if he does I will be fading him BIGTIME against a quality operator.
Still I have to back Senchenko at these odds. Right now you can get around +300. Yes he is 35, yes he is slow, yes he is fighting out of the Ukraine for the second time (I think), yes he is probably cannon fodder for Hatton, but I can't get away from the fact Hatton has had so many problems the past few years.
I remember Hatton fighting Juan Lazcano after fighting Mayweather. He looked HORRIBLE in that fight. Fast forward 4 years. His last fight he got flattened by Pacquaio which showed his punch resistance has completely gone. in the following 3 years his weight balloned to 180-190 range from 140. he drank regulary, eat crap food and did cocaine regulary. he was on the verge of commiting suicide.
This comeback wreaks of desperation. Senchenko is the kid of guy who will get destroyed by speed fighters. Hatton is not one of those. Ok Hatton should win but I reckon I will get a GREAT run for my money and +300 is too big a price..
A bet I really like is Froch v Mack to go to points. Froch will not be up for this fight as he was for Bute. Mack is a tough guy and I think he gives Froch more trouble then expected. I really like Froch by points in a competeive fight..

I agree 100% with this logic.................... IF Hatton wasn't a promoter and as hugely popular as he still is. I don't picture under ANY circumstances him selecting a comeback opponent and losing.
I would never imply the circumstances of a fight being shady, (OK, maybe that is stretching it) but it doesn't matter how or why, he isn't losing in the very first step of a comeback fight.
If there is one thing that Hatton still has, it's cash.....

what hatton is trying to prove to the world is his toughness, I think it was the same with roy jones after he was koed back to back and people started to question his toughness, people that were once saying he was right their with ezzaed charles, archie moore and sam langford as far as lightheavyweights go were now saying that roy would of been koed by these great fighters because he has no chin, he wanted to prove different, take the calzaghe fight, he almost seemed happy to have taken a late round beating by joe just to prove to the world that he could take it, I think hatton has the same mind set here, he wants to prove to the world that he can take it, to me he already did that in the kostya tszyu fight, as fighters age their punch resistance will fade as well ( in most cases anyways) the same stubbornness that made hatton a very good fighter in his prime, may get him hurt in the future, but I actually think that he will only fight a couple more times, this current fight( which he WILL win), maybe a amir khan fight and if he wins that 1 more fight tops, he will not stick around as much as roy has..I am confident in that.

Froch-Mack to go to points? Based on what? Have you seen Mack fight? Every single fight vs a world class guy is the same. He fights very well for about 6-7 rounds then fades horribly, and Froch is as relentless as anyone as fights wear on - he just keeps coming at you. I will be SHOCKED if Mack makes its 12 rounds, or even 10 rounds. He couldnt even hang in there with Johnson.
Froch KO 7-12 is the play here. Or Froch ITD if the juice isnt too awful.

Froch ITD is where my money will go when I see a prop.
YUSEF Mack is a ESPN FNF fighter, the one time he stepped up on FNF as a favorite over father time GLenn Johnson... he folded under pressure.
While I do believe Froch will give up some early rounds because YUSEF Mack can box, but he isn't a power puncher, fades especially against guys who bring it to his chest... just doesn't have it mentally to WIN.
Froch ITD will have to be parlayed with something else because the odds even on the KO will be a lot of chalk!
YUSEF Mack getting a decent paycheck for going to Nottingham, pretty much a gift for him anyways, would be a fool not to take it.
FNF returns after college football is over, YUSEF Mack will maybe get a few fights there, where he belongs. He will be a gate keeper after this fight.
I could give a rats ass about Ricky Hatton, every time I saw him he looked so bloated for a guy who did cocaine he was awfully FAT!.
This should be a good fight, a guy who has been fed tomato cans Senchenko that is, suffer his first loss.. against Paulie Malinaggi by TKO! As noted by boxrec the guy looked every bit his age (35).
First real fight out of the Ukraine,... think this is paycheck time for Senchenko, then retirement.
Ricky hasn't fared well at 147 but (Collazo really beat him, and Floyd waxed him) probably won't really matter as Senchenko is there to make Ricky look great (if possible).
This is a come back party more than a real fight. Hatton by KO parlayed along with Froch ITD.
Good luck to everyone!

Nutty good to see you and great analysis as always. Froch SHOULD get the KO. I can't help but feel he will not come out with the same intensity as he did for the Bute fight. Froch KO'd Bute who has been proven to have a weak chin. I feel his 'power' is over rated.
I will be playing the Over as my big play and will play points also at pretty decent odds. Froch can at times fight to the level of his opponents. I remember Brian Magee giving him all kinds of trouble until he got caught very late on. I think I will get a great run on my points play.
I of course could look very foolish on this play if Mack is weight drained and his stamina is even worse. I just feel Froch will fight a poor fight here. He has been fighting the elite for years now and I think this fight will be a letdown fight for him.
