I kinda liked Lewis...Roach should have a full plate with his training

Agreed, I never had any issues with Lennox

Really?  I thought Lewis was the worst boxing announcer ever.  He never offered any real insight and he was always contradicting himself.  The absolute worst, in my opinion.

LOL ...i guess I'm not that hard to please. I can't stand manny...Roach will be ok if he does do it. He will take you in to the technical end like teddy atlas. I like teddy,very very knowledgable. GL

Lennox was okay but he didn't really offer much. When asked a question from a boxers experience he never gave any real answers about the question asked.

It almost seemed as if he was scared to hurt people's feelings or say the truth of what he was thinking.

Freddie Roach .. hmm he may know his boxing but his speech is impaired due to his illness .. don't know how they can work with that.

I know Merchant was asked to do "split time" with Max Kellerman because Oscar and many other boxers said his questions and critique were too tough. Eventually Kellerman will be full time.

i don't get why people hate on Larry.  In my opinion he brings a lot to the table.  yes he does act weird at times but thats his persona.  One thing is for sure.  the guy does not beat around the bush

I love Larry.  I like everyone on HBO, except Lewis.  Lampley occasionally grates on me, but I like Max, Steward, and Bob Papa.  I think Roach will be a great addition.  He's a guy who knows what he's talking about and I don't think he'll pull any punches.

It's because Merchant is throw back he knows his boxing and calls it as he sees it.

That's his job but seems when he asks probing (yet accurate) questions to Oscar and other big names.. he gets scrutinized by his employers because of Oscar and a few others.

The de la Hoya incident came during his fight with Pernell Whitaker. When De la Hoya entered to the ring to Mariachi music, Merchant stated that while he loved Mariachi music, he felt that it "stunk" in this particular situation. Merchant would later apologize on the air after De La Hoya tried to have him removed from HBO.

Merchant is well known for his post fight interviews which feature his hard hitting, blunt questions and confrontational interview style. These have drawn both praise and ire in the past. Fans have claimed them to be candid and honest while detractors consider them to be purposely agitational and insensitive at times. An example of this occurred when Vernon Forrest won a controversial decision in 2006 over Ike Quartey. When Forrest thanked those close to him, Merchant quipped, "Would you also like to thank the judges?"

On June 8, 2007, due to a storm of negative publicity from Merchant's impending departure[3], Merchant and HBO agreed on a two-year contract extension. Under this agreement, Merchant's heir apparent, Max Kellerman, received an expanded role and alternated with Merchant on HBO World Championship Boxing and pay-per-view broadcasts.

On January 23, 2009, HBO picked up Merchant's two-year option at the end of his 2007 contract. Merchant will continue to alternate "World Championship Boxing" telecasts and HBO PPV cards with Kellerman.[4]

OK, how can anyone like Teddy Atlas ?    The guy is a big friggin windbag who must get paid by the word. This guy loves his own voice, and his favorite line is " Once again" and he repeats the same shit over and over again. I would like to hear the crowd and the sound of punches landing.

I liked Lennox, better than Foreman ever was

I like Manny Steward as well

Not sure why so many people dislike Larry Merchant ( u see how you can make that point without using the word haters?)

not sure what lies ahead but thur my blood shot eyes lewis looks like a walking, talking cliche, providing no insight that any body in this forun does not already know, of course he is just there because of who he is , with that said he provides zero insight and struggles to deliver that -

Lennox was good, so was George Foreman, they need to get rid of Larry Merchant.

I'm a long time HBO boxing fan and Larry Merchant, despite being up there ( in age) and out there (almost all the time), coupled with Jim Lampley make that broadcast team. Although I will say, Jim has become very sentimental over the last few years. It could be a result of him getting older OR maybe it's his life outside of work that has taken a toll on him. Nonetheless, his knowledge and play by play are epic IMO. He is certain to be remembered as one of the high I.Q. guys of all-time in the industry. As for Lennox, Max, Manny, or Freddie, they're all x & o's fillers.....meaning they're all replaceable.

Probably a good move...Lennox was pretty awful. Max Kellerman is the best by leaps and bounds imo
