Saturday's Calzaghe-Kessler fight!

Im leaning to the speed and fighting ability of JC this guy is a freak last fight he lost was in like 1990 add in the fact its in his back yard JC could lose every round and still get the W. I havent fired yet let me know what you guys think

Is this a the Ref is the only one who scores the fight, bout? (as the U.K. has done that a lot) Or are there 3 judges for this one?

Calzaghe IS UNDEFEATED and his first fight was in 1993...could have sworn boxrec was fairly easy to use...
 
bigeiii-  the fight is to unify 3 belts; so why would the ref be the deciding factor should it go to the cards

B/c U.K. fights typically/historically only have one scorer, the 3rd man in the Ring. i.e. the Ref

Which is why I'm wondering out-loud if this fight has 3 Judges scoring it, only the traditional U.K. standard of only 1 Ref scoring it. I presume/hope it will be 3 Judges, but I've not seen that i B&W yet.

Calzaghe was beaten several times as an amateur; the last defeat occurred in 1990.  boxrec is only useful for professional bouts...Maybe you should go back to the MMA forum instead of insulting the more cerebral people who enjoy the sweet science of boxing.

First of all buddy; I've been a member of this site for a long asss time and have posted about boxing numerous times, so don't go saying I don't enjoy the sweet science.  If you want to get really technical, Calzaghe fought amateur at Welterweight, Light Middleweight and Middleweight divisions.  I don't know about your experitese, but I can ensure you his speed, strangth, and agiltiy have not been the same since he was a young "lad."  There is a huge difference in performance between 140 and 168 pounds

 

bigeiii-  You seem fairly knowledgeable about boxing and stuff, so I was a bit confused with your post.  I assume you have HBO/SHOWTIME and have seen JC fights with Manfredo and Lacy, if not others.  Why in the hell would HBO broadcast a huge fight of this magnitude, only to fuck with the American audience with regard to judges?

First off im talking about the Amatuers he lost in 1990.Amateurs fights are fight you fight before going pro you know like the Olympics.Why dont you talk shit in the MMA forum? Oh i know why becouse MMA cappers is the only loser thereThanks for letting me know bout Boxrec id never heard of it

You retard you obviously didn't read my entire post.  Boxing isn't NBA and NFL where there are "winning streaks" so who the fuck cares if he LOST IN THE AMATEURS at weighing 20 pounds less than he does now   Do you take boxers' ATS into account when you cap as well

Bigeiii: I can't remember the last time a major sanctioning body belt was on the line and there weren't three judges judging the fight in the UK, it has been quite a long time since those days.  Calzaghe has always had three judges for his WBO defenses.  I believe that the practice of referee/judge had been in effect for the Commonwealth belts up until about 2-3 years ago, but they even went to three judges for that belt.

This is a tough one to call.  Right side is Kessler, based on the line.
 
But how can you trust JC to get a decision in Cardiff?  I can't.
 
I think the easy winner is the O10.5, unless Kessler KOs JC.  Problem with that Over is the HUGE CHALK (-200).
 
Sucks.

I like Kessler's chances in this one. I don't think the crowd will intimidate him and he is the up and coming lion. Calzaghe starting to get long in the tooth and might be affected by the heat Kessler's going to bring to the dance. I have always thought fighting at home was a much bigger advantage if your the underdog. As a favorite it sometimes is distracting as everyone and their mother is annoying you for something (tickets etc): before the fight begins. As for the bad hand for Kessler==He totally denies it's true.

The dane will win ..and there is tree judges for it. There have been some complains from Kesslers camp about one of them being italien.
 
JC have italian roots.. so the fix may be on unless Kessler KO's JC.

I agree.  If this were any place but Cardiff.  I just don't think Kessler can win a decision there....it'll be rigged.
 
I remember the Lacy match.....big, intimidating presence.  JC handled him.
 
Tough.  And the chalk on the O10.5 is -200, so that is out of the question.

I think that the UK Bookies are far too short on Calzaghe so 6/4 (+150) Kessler is the bet right now.
 
Having said that, the price will likely shorten even more nearer to the fight as a lot of the late money will go on Calzaghe so I am gonna hold the trigger for now and see if I can find 13/8 (+162) on Kessler right before it starts...
