Even though Juan Manuel Marquez actually won the first 2 fights I believe he will get KO tomorrow.
General rule is, any fighter that has fought the GREATEST boxer of our generation gets beat so badly there career ends. There next few fights are usually fights to get their last paychecks.
That is JMM coming in tomorrow, his career was over on September 19th, 2009

Marquez fought at 130lbs for 15 years, then at age 35 (after having fought 24 rounds of non-stop action against the man now considered the best pound-for-pound fighter to date, who is none other than Manny Pacquiao in what were two brutal and also close fights that will remain classics) he decided to move up in weight and earn as much as possible as he doesn't have much more to give in his career. Here is a fighter that I believe trains and fights just as hard or harder than any fighter, and also being a great boxer it took him 15 years to finally get a payday of $850k in the second bout with Manny who earned over $3+million for that fight. Now Marquez at the declining age of 35 moves up to 135lbs to fight Casamayor who was 37 but still a dangerous crafty veteran and known as a dirty fighter with no denial about it. Marquez TKO'd the never been stopped previously Joel Casamayor in the 11th round. Next Marquez fought the over-rated Juan Diaz and earn $1+million payday and won a 9th TKO in vicious style. This match-up was bad for Diaz even though he was the naturally bigger and younger, but besides the fact the Marquez was faster and hit harder and he was also on a much higher level as a master ring technician. Although at that point they were even on the scorecards but watching the fight you had to wonder how many more ripping body to head combinations Diaz could take, and it wasn't long before Marquez finished him off. Marquez at 36 and still coming off two wins that were strenuous and without a doubt taking a toll on his body. Finally Marquez got a shot at Mayweather and his biggest payday of $2+million. Unfortunately the fight was at 144lbs and that was 11% heavier than 96% of all his fights. Mayweather weighed-in two pounds over and was penalized. Also, before the fight Mayweather refused to step on the scale so people knew what he was actually weighing during the fight. More than likely he was at a weight he felt it was better not disclosing for several possible reasons but none I felt had to do with giving Marquez a mental advantage in the scenario he was extremely heavy which usually drains a fighter and allowing Marquez to pressure him to constantly fight giving Marquez his best chance at winning. I think it was more about public perception as he didn't want to go into the fight with the public knowing he was maybe 15 or more pounds heavier, and thus a win even after such a long layoff was already a foregone conclusion before the fight even started.
DaddysHome: Did you imply Mayweather won every round against Marquez officially? Or you are talking about your opinion (I'd assume) ? The judges official scorecards were: | Burt A. Clements 107-120 | | Dave Moretti 108-119 | | William Lerch 109-118 | I'd say Mayweather won every round but when you are younger, faster, bigger, stronger, and a better ring technician (JMM is also one of the best; it comes down to Mayweather's incredible defense) and the fact that Marquez's body has paid the price for his ring battles and at times it shows, where on the other side Mayweather has never felt what would be considered a physical battle that makes your body pay the toll down the road. Marquez is a tougher fighter but that doesn't win rounds, and in many cases it can get you in serious trouble. Only when you can compete at an almost equal level then it allows that edge to turn the tide in your favor. I think if Mayweather would have stopped Marquez for the first time in his career, then you could consider that impressive.
JMM is not able to compete with the very best at a higher weight class simply because his age and weight gain will definitely show a decrease in speed, reflexes and stamina and his increased size will do nothing to increase his punching power.
