Still have the future from a couple weeks ago . . .
Arthur Abraham/Raul Marquez Under 8.5 (+115) 3 units to win 3.45
Didn't end up getting any kind of a good price as the line has remained constant. Hard not to root for Raul but when Abraham turns it on, it just will have to be stopped by someone. I'm thinking 5th round or so. Marquez doesn't have the power to hold off Abraham, nor the speed, nor a great chin. He really lacks any ingredient to make this fight close save for toughness. I just hope he's not that tough.
Alex Bunema (+550) over Sergio Martinez 1 unit to win 5.5
I gotta admit, this line surprised me. I figured Martinez would be -250 at the most. Martinez is pretty much the poster child for not fighting anyone. Who knew beating Saul Roman was a ticket for a title shot? He fought Margarito ages ago and lost and has been picking on the children of the poor since. As a mandatory challenger, for some reason, he fought a four round sparring session with a can in February and needed the cards. I saw him look less than impressive against Russell Jordan, another joke. At least Bunema, who has a tendency to get hit, has fought live bodies. And theres a chance he's hitting a late prime after the impressive stoppage of Karmazin. It's hard to know what Martinez is going to bring into the ring at this point but he is not fighting a 2-3 fighter in Spain. Bunema is good enough to not be a 5.5 to 1 dog in this spot.
Jonathon Thaxton (-130) over JC Melero 1.3 units to win 1
The joke might be on me here in this case but I've gotta bet against Melero, a carbon copy for Martinez, another Spanish guy with an impressive record who hasn't fought anyone. His last two opponents were a combined 1-32! Thaxton is a spent bullet. I thought I'd never ever consider betting on him again. But he's got the home court here. If he's got anything left in his career tank, he will take care of this guy.
More coming later .. .
Good luck everyone.

I love the Bunema bet. Those odds are completely Fucked. The Roman fight proved Bunema does not get easily discouraged when behind on points. This fight could go the same way.
The Thaxton fight is a tough call.
Jon has seen better days and Melero has been fighting sub par fighters but I have been told he was handing Romonov his arse until getting caught and KO'd.
This fight is almost in Jon's house. That has to count for something.
Good luck all.

Yeah I saw that about the Romanov fight weepaul. But, how much stock can you put into 2+ rounds? I do know that Romanov beat Thaxton to high hell though. There's too many red flags on this fight, I'm just gonna keep the one unit bet I think.

Thanks, wish I hit it for more but wasn't confident enough that he had anything left.
Not much doing tonight that I feel like jumping on, will make one small play:
Alfredo Angulo wins by 10 round decision (+312) .5 units to win 1.56
Tsurkan is a pretty tough customer. I don't think he's good enough to compete with Angulo but I think theres a chance he could at least challenge AA enough to push him back a bit and make it to the distance. Will make a small play on it.

this is going to be a war...i can't see it going the distance...that being said, i ended up with too much on the unders with gamboa and angulo and will be looking hard at possibly hedging with the same

Lost .5 units and can't say I'm upset. I've been in the spot before where I am pulling for a fighter to last to the bell to collect on a decision prop tonight. Not tonight. I thought Tsurkan was allowed to go on for far too long. I am glad he is OK, but am willing to pay my 25 bucks for the corner to finally stop that.
That said, Lampley got a little over the top for my liking and invoking Leveander Johnson, etc. was scary and unnecessary in my opinion. He was right, the fight needed to be stop, but no need to draw those comparisons in my opinion.
Vegas knew more about Sergio/Bunema than I did clearly. That was never close.
