Roger Gonzalez (-150) over Cornelius Lock 1.5 units to win 1
I think this is a classic case of a fighter being outclassed. Assuming
Roger can handle Lock's rangy southpaw style and isn't thrown off his
rythym, I expect him to take care of Lock fairly easily. Lock is coming
off a solid win, but he has stepped up against far worse and been
stopped. Gonzalez will outwork him and probably stop him. -150 is no
price to pay for the much better guy.
More plays coming later as I am really looking forward to Abraham/Pantera II.

Albo, good to see you around again. Good luck to us. You went AWOL after Cotto-Gomez . I thought you would at least show up post fight after all our talk beforehand. Nice to see you back.

Gonzalez was winning the fight , he had to stay on his feet because it was the last round.

Wow, that I didn't think Lock had in him. I thought he was done for in the middle rounds and that Gonzalez would cruise home, but he found a second wind that I don't think many expected he had.

.75 a unit on Gonzalez by 10 round decision (+179)
Well that officially blew. That was tough stuff Gonzalez backers. I had Speedy up 2 points going into the final round and was feeling good about the decision nod. That was a very strange shot that put him down the first time in the 10th, at first I didn't even think anything landed. I thought Speedy had been hit with bigger shots much more cleanly throughout than that one. I am still wondering why that punch did that much damage and why Speedy seemed to be so happy a minute or two after he was stopped.

I had the same decision prop and unofficial scoring card FB, and I agree, Gonzalez was probably taking a dive there. That stoppage was crazy.

It was very strange, that's for sure. Not saying he took a dive, but it definitely wasn't the shot you would expect for an ending like that. Maybe he had the under and wanted to cash it with three seconds to spare, lol.

Friday Ahunaya (+130) over Alonzo Butler 1 unit to win 1.3
I just dont believe in Butler. He's built this padded record against punching bags. I've been waiting for him to fight someone worthwhile and, while Friday is no superstar, he's not punching bag. Big Zo hasnt fought in a year because of an eye injury and if he isn't ready, I think he could look pretty pedestrian tonight. Ahunaya has enough left to beat him.
Ward/Ravelo Over 7.5 Rounds (-145) 2.9 units to win 2
Ravelo's chin is spotty, but Ward isn't the kind of guy that is going to blitz him in the first round and floor him. If Ravelo doesn't do anything stupid, Ward would be foolish not to try to outbox this guy without taking chances because Ravelo has a little pop. I think Ward sets the tone and banks rounds and this one cruises through 8 rounds, probably going the full 12.

2-0 last night, but barely. Can't believe Ravelo lasted just long enough. Certainly a fingernail biting fight but I was getting a kick out of Nick Charles openly bashing Ravelo throughout.
Tonight:
Edison Miranda (+165) 2 units to win 3.3 Miranda by decision (+606) 1 unit to win 6
I watched the first fight and I just didn't see what so many people said was a razor-thin close fight. I had Miranda winning at least 8 rounds and controlling the pace for much of the fight. Yes, he had a broken jaw, but Abraham didn't do anything to suggest he is miles ahead of Miranda in really any aspect, except chin probably. That's why I see value in the decision prop. At best this is a toss up fight, is going to be awesome to watch and Miranda has the hometown advantage.
Berto/Rodriguez Under 8.5 (+120) 1 unit to win 1.2
I just have a hunch that Berto is extremely impressive tonight and wears Rodriguez down quickly. This does seem eerily similar to Berto's Cosme Rivera fight, but I think he has improved and, fighting for a title, will be able to stop Rodriguez in the middle rounds.
Chazz Witherspoon (+250) .5 units to win 1.5
Fullbrights has said it and I agree, there is too much value here on Chazz. I'm not a fan of his by any stretch but I don't see how Arreola is any better off. Witherspoon is definitely the better technical fighter and I think he'll be able to survive on the inside with Arreola.

All told, down .5 units for the week. I don't know what happened to Miranda. You would think a seasoned guy with many high level fights would have some semblance of a defense. Apparently, he doesn't and Abraham's power was impressive.
Chazz was allowed to retain some dignity with that stoppage as it certainly looked like he was going to be stopped in brutal fashion. Still, HBO didnt seem to have any photographic evidence that the corner was in before the 8 count.
Berto did well with his target practice. I didnt get the quasi-criticism from Max when he was dominating all aspects of the fight.
