Thoughts on betting under 8.5 rounds for Haye vs Klitchko?

at -200 it seems like a good value to me considering many of those these fighter's matches ended quick. Whats everyone think?

I think Haye will probably get KO'd very early.

I dont know why  but I think David Haye goes up there and wins the fight. Maybe I bought into his confidence. He looks like his frame can handle the weight with no problem. I think he can win

Inside the  distance. 
Haye was  chinny  at cruiser.  I expect the first real right that Wladimir lands to be the beginning of the end.

I hope so :) I'm gonna toss a few units on under 8.5 rounds. My book didn't have ITD though. If they put that up, I'd definitely go that route instead of the <8.5

Haye should be faster. . . I may not bet on the fight, but I will certainly be rooting for him.  He'd definitely be better for the division then the boring ass Klitschko's, he'd at least hype shit up

Bet 365 has Klitcho at 4/5 by KO 500 to win 400 is a steal!

David Haye is a PURE BUM, he has stamina issues, he has a glass JAW, and he eats JABS for LUNCH he is made for Klitcho  how the line is so low -260 is beyond me. This line should be -900 at least!

David Haye quite possible has one of the weakest chins I've seen, and he's only a cruiser weight.

Carl Thompson didn't even hit him hard, and he went down. Carl Thompson was 40 years old at the time, he fought one more time and retired. Basically a RETIRED boxer KO'd Haye.

David Haye has NO defense, he walks right into jabs and he also has a very bad tendency to drop his left hand after he throws a combo. Here's a clip of the amazing David haye at 198 pounds and  his stamina issues, and his low left hand, and his walking into jabs, and his chin.

I don't know is bet365 is a reputable book but 500 to win 400 by ko is a GIFT.

Hey Rich,

             That Thompson fight was back in 2004. Don't put too much stock in that match-up because Thompson was VERY busy all night. Klitchko is very rarely busy. I'll have much more to say on this fight next week. One thing is very probable

Guys if this was Vitali I wouldn't hesitate. And while I am 90% sure of a Wlad knockout and cant bet stacks with a guy who has had a very suspect chin in the past..Haye can bomb and if he hits Wlad goes down. I would prefer to play the under here, think its a safer play

Actually Thompson was ONLY busy after Haye got tired. Thompson was landing a stiff jab here and there but he TOOK the best of what David Haye had to offer.  Haye in Fundamentally NOT a good boxer, his two biggest flaws (eating a jab)  and lowering his left hand after punching, happens to be Klitcho's TWO best weapons (stiff jab) and (right hand).

I agree on the KO, but it will be Haye that goes down, he couldn't even finish a 198 pounder who was 40 years old.

I  agree a KO is the ending.

Yes suspect CHIN against PURE Heavyweights. If you went CHIN by CHIN status you would say HAYE has the weaker chin, because he wasn't even HIT HARD and FELL.

At least with the Heavy weights, well the punches COUNT.

Haye is a Cruiser weight, trying to make money at Heavyweight, as much as I hate Klitcho he's the clear pick in this and and 4/5 for a KO you don't need to lay much to win.

Another sad night for Heavy Weight boxing, but many good fights in other divisions starting this week!

I know of Brewster and Purrity, but they were HEAVYWEIGHTS, not CRUISER WEIGHTS.

  Haye will NOT Carry his PUNCH into REAL Heavy Weight Division, he hit Carl Thompson with everything he had, yet when it came time for him to be hit, he had no heart.

One can only assume Haye will have power at Heavy Weight, because Monte Barret came out of retirement to fight him isn't a true test.

Regardless of the outcome, he doesn't deserve a Heavy Weight Title shot, his only win as a heavy weight is Monte Barret   38 years old who was KO'd by  Cliff Couser and Valuvev?

Then a title shot? Come on that's a joke.

My play would still be Klitcho by KO 4/5 odds, that's my pick.

But I agree the fight will end in a KO, and it definitely should be before 8.5 rounds. The only flaw in this play is if somehow Klitcho is lazy and just boxes and doesn't go for the big hit until later on, or Haye feels Klitchos stiff jab and power and stays away allowing the bet to lose but that's alot to ask for for two guys who know the Canvas well. The upside is you don't care which fighter gets KO'd you simply need it happen before 8.5.

If undecided about who to pick guess the UNDER is the play :)

I personally believe Klitcho by KO 4/5 odds not too shabby!

Thanks for the advice. What bookie are you getting 4/5 for Klit by KO on? The 3 books I'm using only have winner or <> 8.5 rounds on them.

It seems a pretty safe bet that this fight doesn't go past 6 rounds. Haye knows he won't win a boxing contest,so I expect him to come out with great fury (in the early going) looking for the KO. Wlad will probably be forced to really fight for the 1st time in many a moon.

He may have the superior physical skills but when it comes down to will & heart I'll take Haye every time. Haye is not going to stay on the outside & let Wlad pick him apart at his own leisurely pace. He will try to get inside & explode some bombs on Wlad's very vulerable chin. Take that to the bank.

Rich I wouldn't argue with you too much, but I do disagree with some points. I would be surprised if Wlad doesn't knock out Haye. I agree that styles make fights and I see Wlad jabbing this guy to death for 4 rounds, before Haye gets wreckless, takes chances because he is 4 rounds down on the cards in Germany (which means he is 8 rounds down) and gets knocked out by Wlads first good power shot. I agree I think Haye is that chinny that Wlads first good shot should end it. Haye has never been hit by a guy with Wlads power and he has been knocked down by cruiserweights so your bet SHOULD be good.
 
There are things I would like to raise though. Carl Thompson for the last 4 years of his career was similiar to Ray Mercer. You could hit the guy with bombs all night and he wouldn't budge. He took some serious shoots in that Haye fight and just wouldn't go down..That Haye Thompson fight was like Ray Mercer v Tommy Morrison (Gunn lol). Where Haye and Morrison punched themselves out and completely gassed themselves out.
 
IMO Haye is one of the hardest punchers pound for pound in the world today (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sORAvCv1Yj0) . His best Attributes are 1) hand speed. There is no heavyweight in the world that can match his hand speed. Combine that with power and you have an explosive fighter. I don't think he is as big a bum as you think he is. He was a good amateur and in beating Jean Mormeck in France proved he is no bum as a pro. 2) Confidence. Haye is a relaxed guy and he genuinely believes he will knock out Wlad. Now he is probably in for a rude awakening but a confident fighter is a dangerous fighter. Its not hot air, he believes he will knock out Wlad.
 
Yes Rich your bet will probably be good, but in boxing and most sports those bets that look too good to be true, usually cost money. When you have a guy with quick handspeed, has explosive power in both hands against a chinny guy..hmmm I think under is the safer play here (despite my concerns about Wlad being very ultra safe with the jab for 4 - 5 rounds). Haye will bring his power to heavyweight. That am I certain off.

Haye reminds me of my all-time favorite fighter, Chico Corrales.  He has the power to KO anyone you put in front of him, but his chin will have you on the edge of your seat, because any solid punch can put him down.  I just think that Klitschko is too fundamentally sound to get caught by Haye.  He's done nothing but get better technically over the past few years, largely due to Manny Stewart.  Klitschko by very early KO for me.

I don't disagree with any of your points Macks, my only question is how does Haye GET IN?

Haye is very off balance and man he drops that left after a combo,. This will be the first time he is giving up HEIGHT and REACH.

Looking it up on Boxrec.com I cannot believe that Haye is 6'3 and had that big of a reach, he looks very small in the ring, doesn't LOOK like a heavyweight, yet he has the Height and Reach of one.

Both guys with WEAK CHINS but one guy swinging UP one guy putting all of his weight down and FORWARD.

I do agree this will be the first aggressive guy Klitcho has seen in a while. I mean Tony Thompson was a sparring partner who was looking to just not hit or get hit lol!

I think the line is too low based on Haye has one real fight in the Heavy Weight Division. I know not many decent heavyweights out there basically recycled garbage but he needs at least 2-3 more fights before I think he deserves a shot.

I think anyone can agree one fight at Heavyweight and you get KLITCHO?

I personally hate BOTH Klitcho's, I guess if Vitali can keep the championship while being off of boxing for 4 years, Haye can get a shot!

I believe Vitali was one of the better Heavyweights way better than his brother!

Lets hope we at least see a good fight!

Bet365 has that prop. I assume many more will be putting it closer to fight time.
