For the first time ever, an Ontario-born boxer will defend his world championship title on home soil.
'The Canadian Kid', Steve Molitor, will attempt to defend his I.B.F. World Junior Featherweight title live on TSN, Saturday July 14 at 10pm et/7pm pt. The fight, entitled Rumble at Rama, is also available in High Definition on TSN HD and on-demand on TSN Broadband at www.TSN.ca.
Molitor, who was born in Sarnia, ON, and now lives in Toronto, brings a 23-0 record (including 9 knockouts) into the fight against the current No. 1 contender, Takalani ‘The Panther' Ndlovu of South Africa, who is 27-3 with 17 KOs.
This marks the first time TSN has produced and televised a world title fight.
Molitor is dedicating his title fight to the men and women in the Canadian Forces. As such, arrangements have been made for the Canadian troops in Afghanistan, the North Sinai desert in Egypt, and the Netherlands to watch the TSN broadcast via satellite on Canadian Forces Radio and Television. An announcement will be made at the start of the fight honouring the Canadian troops overseas.
