Sakio Bika vs. Jaidon Codrington Codrington -145 2.90 Units
YTD: 34.46 units risked, +15.82 units
168 pounders Sakio Bika (23-3-2) and Jaidon "The Don" Codrington (18-1) meet Tuesday night in Boston in the main event of the Contender series finale. Bika, 28, enters the fight as a slight underdog despite having an experience edge that could potentially be a difference maker should the fight go the distance. Despite having won the Australian IBF super middleweight belt, it has to be said that his punching style is crude and he has a bad tendency to stand right in front of his opponents and allow himself to be hit, as clearly shown in his recent Contender semifinal bout against Sam Soliman. To Bika's credit, he is an impressively muscular physical specimen who was able to go 12 rounds with Joe Calzaghe, proving that he also has a solid beard and a strong heart. The hard punching 23 year old Codrington has racked up 14 of his wins by way of KO. The Don's sole loss was an epic one, earning him the dubious honor of Ring Magazine's KO of the year when he was destroyed by Allan Green in a mere 18 seconds almost exactly 2 years ago. I believe a lot has changed for Codrington since that humiliating loss and that he could very well be a rising star of the super middleweight division. After annihilating fellow Contender opponents Brian Vera and Wayne Johnsen in 2 and 1 rounds respectively, one has to think that the post Green-era Condrington is out to prove that his power is not to be taken lightly and that his one loss was a bit of a fluke. Although Bika has never been stopped in any of his 29 professional fights, I believe this could change Tuesday night. Codrington has a reach and height advantage that, when coupled with his power, should spell trouble for the sometimes awkward Bika. Although a KO in front of a huge national TV audience would be impressive for the Queens native, I see a points win as the most likely outcome for Condrington. There is, however, a fair chance that Bika could allow himself to be hit by one of Codrington's monstrous haymakers, sending the Australian via Cameroon to his first KO loss.

Holy crap! incredible first round. I thought Codrington was done when he got knocked down in the first minute, but then he came back with an awesome knockdown and made Bika respect him the rest of that round.

I eat crow on that pick. Bika made Codrington look amateurish, as Bika completely controlled the ring and backed up Codrington the entire fight. Codrington just didn't seem to know what he was doing out there. Those weaves were especially weird; it was almost like he was practicing new moves when he should've been concentrating on executing a fight plan.

Hey, no shame losing a pick in a FOTY candidate. If Codrington had a little more experience, he would have gotten Bika out of there. I hope the kid recovers. That was a nasty beating he took a couple nights ago.
Who've you got for Cotto - Mosley? Shane might have to win eight rounds just to get the decision.

I'm leaning towards Mosley, but I'm not sure yet on how exactly I'm going to play it. There are some props out there that seem to offer good value. I should have a writeup by tomorrow night.
