Julio Diaz v. David Torres Under 9.5 (even) 1 unit
Torres' perfect record looks nice until you realize that there's a reason you've probably never seen him box: all but one of his fights have been in Tacoma, Washington, with the best opposition he's faced being Robert Frankel and Marteze Logan. Torres lost about 3 rounds against Frankel, and he would have gotten a majority draw with Logan if Logan hadn't been deducted a point for a low blow in the final round. Meanwhile, Diaz is a legitimate contender, although he will never be considered an elite-level fighter. Still, he's KO'd better fighters than Torres (Miguel Huerta, Ernesto Zepeda), and Torres will be coming right at him. Considering the difference in skill level combined with the fact that Torres will be there to be hit, I think that Diaz will likely end the fight early with some punishing combinations. Also, I'm not too concerned about this weight issue because I don't see the fight lasting long enough for Diaz's endurance to become a factor.
Note: Bodog just came out with their lines, putting this one at even for the moment. I know that it's already up to -125 at 5dimes, so grab it before it gets even more inflated.

I'm with you on the under tonight, though I don't know if that is such a good thing these days. I think it could play out a couple of ways, Diaz is shot and is weakened trying to make weight or Torres is just another one of your regionally sheltered fighters like you stated. I wish that I had seen Torres before though and I may have taken him.

Very nice week last week A2C. Good stuff.

Torres was totally outclassed in this one, as Diaz's speed and footwork were too much for his straight-ahead regional opponent. This fight was basically over by the 3rd round when Torres got blasted into the ropes for a knockdown.

Yep, that was a beatdown. Torres's face was definitely on the nasty side. Good call everyone. The regionally sheltered angle definitely played out in this one.

Daniel Geale vs. Geard Ajetovic Ajetovic +220 .5 unit
I'm not going to lie -- this pick is mostly based on Graham Houston's fight preview on fightwriter.com. I'm usually not one to blindly follow Mr. Houston, as I view him as more of a boxing journalist (the best) than a true handicapper. Yet, when he finds some hidden information and makes the big call on a dog, I listen. I haven't seen him this strongly support a dog since last summer when he made the calls on Rob Calloway (+400) and Gerry Penalosa (+400 straight up and +700 on the KO prop); those were two of my biggest paydays of the year. Also, Geale had problems in some of his previous fights against journeymen (knocked down by Lee Oti and Gary Comer), and he's never fought outside of Australia. Meanwhile Ajetovic's fought all over the United Kingdom, plus Monaco and France, and he has a good amateur pedigree. More importantly, sources say that Ajetovic's never been hurt, as his sole loss was the result of being outworked. I'm thinking that Geale's been down against lesser fighters than Ajetovic, who should be able to test that fragile chin. Take the plunge into the relative unknown, and hopefully, we'll wake up to some good news tomorrow morning.

I have the same pick Bro. He was also almost KTFO by Nonoy Gonzales. He was decked twice in that fight. Gonzalez has 22 wins in 44 fights!!!
Also have Santiago to beat Luevano. They have both lost one fight to people they had no business losing to so you never know. I could not resist +410.
Good luck all.

Good luck, looks like the odds have dropped here so I guess a lot of people are trusting Graham with this one, since I doubt many have seen these guys. Hopefully you wake up to a winner.

I woke up to find out that Ajetovic just didn't let his hands go, as he allowed Geale to walk away the easy winner. That's total crap for a fighter to go into his opponent's hometown and not try to make the action happen. How's he going to win if he's not throwing punches? Add to this the fact that Geale has a vulnerable chin, and you have a pathetic performance from Ajetovic. Lots of us wish we had the talent to be in the boxing ring on a world-class level, so it's a shame when someone who has that talent just lets it go to waste. Sorry if you followed me on this one.
I'm a little out of sorts today, and I only have slight leans on the rest of the fights this weekend, so I probably won't be making any more picks until next week.
to FB on those good-looking parlays
to weepaul on the Santiago play
It looks like both of you have really good shots.
