Wladimir Klitschko calls out David Haye

This is getting really interesting. Around 18 months ago Wladimir looks awkward when Haye Challenges him (see link below). Indeed he states that Haye must wait in line until he fights Tony Thompson and then Alexander Povetkin (which incredibly still hasn't happened yet).

He then agrees to fight Haye but according to the contract he would make by far the most money. Not only that Haye's backers at the time Setanta Sports go out of business in the UK. All of a sudden Haye gets a 'back injury'. There was never a back injury. Haye's reasons for pulling out were totally financial and all boxing fans know this. Haye should never have taken us for idiots. It was silly for Haye at the time to ever agree to fight either Klitschko's as he was nowhere near ready. I think Adam Booth his trainer knew all this, so he was pulled his fighter out of both fights.

His campaign to get get Wladamir Klitscho into the ring has really gotten under big Wlad's skin. The t-shirts with the decapitated heads of the brothers made a lot of headlines for Haye. Now Haye has got the WBA belt, serious marketability (good looking charasmatic guy that can punch, whose fights bar Valuev are entertaining). Its ironic that 18 months ago it was Haye chasing Wlad Klitschko and now how the tables have turned. Wlad is zero marketability and Haye is now in a better position to negotiate the fight and has the Klits literally eating out of his hand.

David Haye must be smiling like a Chesire cat. The guy has spun a web and Wlad has fallen right into the trap. What's funny is I don't even think Haye is that good. The guy's conditioning is atrocious. He looked knackered after 5 rounds against Ruiz. Who is 38 years of age. Haye is in it for the money and I have no doubt he takes the fight in a heartbeat. If he losses he makes millions and if he wins he makes even more.

The under is hitting in this one when it happens. Haye know he can't last 12 rounds with Wlad's jab in his face. His plan will be simple. Throw bombs and be aggressive from the start. If Wlad is still standing after 5 rounds I can't see how Haye wins. However Haye has great speed and brutal power. If he hits Wlad cleanly he will go down. Finally, we have a Klitschko fight the fans want to see.

I guess Haye doesn't have to wait in line behind Povektin or anyone else anymore. David Haye must love it when a plan comes together..

I can't see how Haye doesn't take this fight now. He literally has very few other otions. Haye does not want to get fight Valuev again under any circumstances. There is no money in it and another fight like that will do serious harm to his appeal (which whether you like it or not is sky high right now).

Fighting a guy like Bernard Hopkins is a no no. It is a no win situation. Then you look around at other names like Povektin, Adamek, Sam Peter, Arreola. These guys are dangerous fighters that won't make him big money. Too much risk involved.

He has 3 options. He can fight either one of the Klitschko's or he can take a low risk fight against Evander Holyfield (debut in Vegas) and make a decent payday before taking on the Klitscho's next year.

I have a hunch he will take the Holyfield route. He is a big name and it will give Haye some needed exposure in the States. Wlad will fight Povektin (if he grows some balls) in the arse hole of Germany somewhere and the winners of both these fights will face each other..That will be Haye and Wlad...

Mac I am very involved with Adamek Team i can tell you that they are very much ready for Arreola and their next potential pick to fight would be Haye.  I do agree with you what u said above and i think Haye would avoid Adamek at all cost (That is if Adamek beats Arreola)

Although in my opinion if Adamek does beat Chris people will give him more attention (especially that hes finally back on HBO)

Haye is a smart guy, for a guy with a weak chin and poor stamina.. he has made a decent following beating Valuev (who Holyfield beat and got robbed) and Ruiz.. he needed to get his feet wet in the Heavy Weight division.

I don't see Haye fighting Holyfield, I do believe he needs a few more fights.. he's getting a fan base and his style is much more pleasing than Wladamir.

Holyfield has serious trouble with guys that can MOVE since he's gotten older, I don't think it would be a good fight for Haye as most have written Evander off a while ago.

Question is why is Wladamir ducking Povektin? He's the mandatory challenger.. why call out Haye now? Because it makes more money now... or does Emmanuel Steward feel Povektin can give him trouble?

I believe Haye will fight the winner of the Adamek fight, makes sense Adamek is a former cruiser just like him.. would be a good matchup..

You can also make the case Haye needs one more fight before he steps up to Klitscho status then so why not fight a guy who Wladamir clobbered for many rounds and see how he fares (In this case that's Arreola).

One thing we all agree one if Haye fights Wladamir .. the UNDER is the play one man is going down very early... personally I couldn't care who it was as I will have the ITD pick.

Haye's stamina is an issue for me, his chin always will be too.. He looked a bit "heavier" in his fight against Ruiz not as ripped not sure if he's trying to gain weight to gain more power, we all know that doesn't work it will slow you down.

Haye will NOT fight Vitali, but I believe he will fight Wladamir after he fights the Adamek winner..

Rich I don't see him fighting Adamek. Adamek is a very dangerous opponent for Haye and Haye won't take risks that could mean him losing out on such a massive payday. I can see him easily clearing $10 million for a Wlad fight when its all said and done.

Nutty I don't Wlad or Stewart are afraid of Povektin. I don't know about you, but I have watched a few of his fights and I see nothing special in the guy (and believe me I wanted to). If Wlad fights Povektin, HBO won't show it as again it will be in Germany and we are going to see the exact same style of fight that we have seen in the last 7 or 8 Wlad fights. Jab, Jab, Jab, Grab. Its boring to watch but his style now is extremely effective.

I simply don't see Haye taking a dangerous fight right now thats not a Klitsckho. I expect him to take a hassle free fight that yhe doesn't believe he can lose, Wlad will fight Povektin and the fight will be made around this time 12 months. Thats what I hate about boxing. The politics. I simply can't see this fight being made any sooner as Haye sadly is business man first and a fighter 2nd. I don't think he truly believes he can beat Wlad so he will bide his time as long as possible and make as much money as he can before taking the challenge.

I agree but seems like Haye now has leverage he wants 50/50 cut... if he fought last year he was looking at 30 % tops.. now he can demand 50 % just by "waiting".

He is now a big enough draw where HBO would televise that fight.. and fans would want to see it.

I agree Povektin would be a boring fight.. but if Haye holds out who is he going to fight?

How the tables have turned.. Klitscho NEEDS Haye now where as a bit over a year ago Haye  used them as marketing tools... and they fell for it lol!

Got to give haye credit, he got under his skin, in his head.. and maybe him act out of character.

Also odd is Wladamir saying "On Behalf of boxing fans" , I'm calling you out.. a guy who has had boring fight after fight..and BOOED by the fans in the U.S, now tries to reverse it and make it seem like he's a crowd pleaser.

I think they will fight early 2011, Haye's camp is going to milk this for all it's worth! Can't blame them.. it's a career and a good business decision even though as you I hate the politics involved- If David haye takes this fight too soon.. and gets KO'd his career is over so might as well get maximum pay day :-)

                                             

As I stated many months ago........ Haye will KO the big Russian because he's just to fast & has the brains & balls to be smartly  aggressive.

He went on to fight pretty well for a gassed fighter. I believe he has the perfect style to defeat Wlad. He's not going to stand in one spot & let Wlad control the fight with his long jab. To beat Klits ...you have to be able to drive him back & punish him with power punches. We all know Wlad has not shown a sturdy chin in the past. The other brother would be a tougher fight for Haye IMO... but I'd still give him a decent shot. But match-up wise.....Haye would be wise to try & fight Wlad.

I think Wlad has a clear edge here, but I won't be backing him. Haye is very fast for a heavweight, huge puncher and can throw bombs with both hands at awkward angles. If Wlad can withstand the early Haye onslaught, he will murder Haye after 5 rounds. Haye has serious conditioning issues. That is something you can't hide or improve. His only chance is to blast out Wlad early. If he doesn't he is getting KO'd.

The under is the safest play here. The bell won't ring for round 8 let alone alone 12.
