Zab Judah/Matthysse

Anybody capping this fight.  I know nothing about Judah's opponent.  Would you say he's a B type fighter.  Judah looked like he got his act together in his last fight, but that was on Friday night fights.  Judah worth putting in a parlay? Thanks.

JUDAH is  a very good offensive fighter and  one of the best in the world at k.o. over matched opponents, expect an early round for ZAB in this one

Line opened at over -300 now quickly down to -175, not sure what thats all about but im staying away..

Got tape on Matthysse. I did research on him for the Vivian Harris fight. If my memory serves correct, he's not as good as his record reflects. I think he's pretty much only fought in Argentina? I'll recheck what I got, expect an update.

I will be checking footage on him also, Zab looks good at 140, carries the power from 147 speed and everything else.

I think Zab may have hit the Gold mine in this division, but he is the king of losing when favored and when things are going his way.

Something about Brooklyn Fighters from Brownsville they seem to implode when they have a golden opportunity.

Matthese is not some slow bum. He's pretty athletic and his power is for real. But he's never faced anyone like Zab.

I was @ the press conference and Zab is full of confidence and looks very good to me.
Lucas did have few fights in USA (Vegas, Texas) against very weak fighters.
He crushed V. Harris but Harris was totally out of shape and washed up.
I see this fight as a KO for Judah with a nice counter that Lucas wont even see.

Anyone else going to this fight?  Let's grab a beer!

Its been a shit storm at the McNulty residence this week, but I'll have a informative post by tonight. What I do remember about Matthysse off the top of my head was the Harris stoppage was a bad one. Not saying Harris was doing well or anything because I don't think he was, but I do remember the stoppage was shifty.


One thing I'd like to add is this is going to be on HBO and if I'm not mistaken Judah hasn't been on HBO in a while, 2 years? Wasn't his last fight on ESPN? Judah still has some star power and is trying to change his image. I know getting back on HBO is a big deal for him.

Just rewatched 4 of Matthysse's fights as well as Judah's last 2...

He might not be a bum, but he's a definite b- fighter. I completely disagree about the power as well as his athleticism. He's an arm puncher who couldn't even legitimately take out glass jaw Vivian Harris. One of the worst calls in boxing history imho.


5 out of Matthysse's last 24 were against southpaws [2005-2010]. Judah's last fight was in Jersey, tonight is Jersey as well. Judah has a little bit of a base out there from what I'm reading....might have even lived out there for a spell. Always a bit worried when a GBP fighter [Matthysse] is in the main event, serious red flag imho.


Unless there is a hex on Judah with Argentinian fighters, I'm picking Judah to win tonight. He may be past his prime, but not so sure a Matthysse can capitalize on it. Zab is still very marketable, only thing Matthyyse is good for is to be a future opponent with a decent record and maybe a belt to be cannon fodder for an A-lister.

Side notes:

Matthysse has been training in Oxnard and sparring with Martinez which imo is the wrong move. Styles are totally different. They think Judahs speed wont be a problem cuz of working with Martinez which is erroneous. Judah at one point had the fastest hands in all of boxing, Martinez isn't nowhere near that. Jmo...


Forgot to mention Matthysse's bubbled eye in the Harris fight, making sense the ref got him out of there cuz if he somehow lost to Harris it would have hurt his stock.

Judah is with Mustafa now and training and living in LA. Obviously got rid of Yoel. Both factors are why his career went to shit and the adjustments are positive.

IF THE FIGHT IS IN THE PRUDENTIAL CENTER IN NEWARK, NEW JERSEY THEN IT'S LIKE A HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE FOR JUDAH. BROOKLYN AND NYC IS JUST ACROSS THE RIVER VIA TWO TUNNELS.

Food for thought:

To have a score of 115-112 for Judah (one judge's tally), you have to have done one of the following:

1. Given Judah all of the first 8 rounds

OR

2. Given Judah some of the last 4

Which to me seems impossible on both sides.

Matthysse absolutely beat him down the last 3rd of the fight, sweeping the last 4 rounds plus a knockdown.

I personally gave Matthysse rounds, 3, 4, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12.
