I very rarely play an under in the CFL but this total jumped out at me with Drew Tate being out and Calvillo being questionable for the Als. I realize Kevin Glenn is a veteran and played good in relief of Tate, but that total seems too high in what could be a matchup of 2 backup qb's..
Any thoughts on this matchup?

I haven't heard anything about that but MacPherson for Montreal is probably the best backup in the league. Hardly played last year so that AC could get his CFL record and has pretty good stats considering he played a few [ last game or two of the season games ] with most of the regulars resting.
I like under but would rather have Calvillo at QB for it. He turtles bigtime at his age under pressure where MacPherson is a very good scrambler.

I got the info. on the Calvillo injury at the cfl website..very interesting statement that you would prefer Calvillo over MacPherson for the game to go under. I agree that MacPherson is far more athletic and can scamble but if i decide to play the under(extremely rare for me) im hoping to see the unproven Adrian MacPherson behind center for the Als..whoever they decide to start im just hoping to see the punters on the field a lot on Thursday night.

Please. I'm dying to hear who the best backup is in the CFL. ( and please do not say KG)
I must have missed the memo.
Last I heard backups are not necessarily available just because that is the role they fulfill. I do not know how far back you go with this game but the Als learned that lesson about 8 years ago when they had the absolute worse backup in the league by the name of Ted White. The guy was an out of shape lineman at best and it cost the Als a pretty certain Grey Cup back in 2004 when Calvillo went down at the half in the Eastern Final against the Argos. This is a game where they would have pounded the Argos if AC could finish out.
The moons were really aligned that year when Blundering Buono decided to hand the Argos the Grey Cup when he chose to start Dickinson over Casey Printers .
I actually had the pleasure of sitting at a Ticats game 2 years later with BC owner, David Brayley, who as much admitted that was a major judgement boner on Coach Wally's part.
Adrian would have easily been picked up by another team but he accepted the Als offer because he figured Calvillo would be gone by end of 2011.
Just my humble .02

I don't go 8+ years back CFL wise but I've been on the football field since the age of 5. I'm a true fan of the game, both 2 down and 3 down football.
Drew Tate is a perfect example of a backup quarterback with the capability to be a successful starting quarterback in the CFL.
Kevin Glenn has shown that he can put up solid numbers in the CFL but he only has one year where he led his team to the Grey Cup. Unfortunately he broke his arm in the Eastern Final and was unable to play in the Cup. His career stats aren't too shabby but I would not say he is the best backup in the CFL. He can definitely prove that statement wrong over these next few weeks, but as of now he is in the same boat as Kerry Joseph.
I know that last year MacPherson had a great opportunity to show his skillset last season when Calvillo went down early in the game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders....Don't get me wrong, the kid can move his feet, but he struggles to make the correct reads on offense.
I hope that Calvillo is unable to play this week so that MacPherson can get some playing time; this is the only way we can find out if he is a capable quarterback in the CFL.
I am unaware of what happened throughout that 2004 Grey Cup game so I cannot comment on that situation. That is interesting that the Mr. Brayley admits that Buono made a mistake with that decision. Back in 2004 I imagine it was not the time, nor the place, for him to tell Buono that. But in retrospect, if the Lions had won that Grey Cup, Brayley may have praised Buono for that decision.
I do appreciate your post in regards to back-up quarterbacks.
Best of luck this weekend and may we enjoy the football while winning respective our wagers

After i heard that Calvillo was going to play i decided to wait thinking that most totals seem to rise the day of the game, i was hoping it would get to 56 1.2 or 57...it;s down to 55 now.
