What do you get when you win your last 5 games against two dead teams that are a combined 5-15 on the season? You get a 3.5 road fav IN Saskatchewan! Wow, we all knew Calgary was going to soon be overvalued and I believe the time has come. The CFL odds on Covers only go back to 2003 but not once during that time have the Riders been a home dog this big to the Stamps and I'd bet you'd have to go back a while yet before you find when they were. Despite what the media and CFL dorks will tell you about the battles of Ontario and Alberta, this is without a doubt the best rivalry in the game and to see the Riders (who are 5-0 at home) this big of a dog on a Friday Night home game is something you won't see often (not unexpected but still something that makes you gawk in amazement). I think Calgary is way overinflated here after beating up a bunch of weaklings, plus after whipping the Riders by 20 already this season and seeing them getting blown out by a bad Winnipeg team last week I don't think the Stamps will play with their backs against the wall.
But I think the Riders will. Saskatchewan had been scuffling prior to last week's game but what happened last week was a real wake up call as the Riders were completely dominated and embarrassed by a sub par Bombers team. A couple of notable players were given the boot this week by management and I'm sure everyone on that team has had a fire lit under their ass and has taken notice that things need to change and fast. What better opportunity to come out angry with some renewed life as a home dog against your rival? Great spot for Sasky here. The crowd will be loud and drunk and I expect the Riders to feed off that energy and bring a really solid effort. I don't really think the points will be needed as I like Sasky to win SU.
GL this week.
