I have to start this thread by saying I feel for Masoli and prayers up for him, I hope he comes back. My green Riders just snuck by the Elks with the good ole' Canadian Rouge! Hamilton gets their 1st win and BC and Winnipeg took care of business.
I am glad I changed my Ottawa pick to Hamilton a few hours before kickoff (posted in my week 5 thread).
Onto week 6! All games moneyline:
EDMONTON:
This is the week Edmonton gets their 1st home win in 4 years/19 home games. The Elks played the Riders surprisingly well last week, Cornelius looked OK and Edmonton's defense came to play. Hamilton barely got by Ottawa playing a rookie QB in his 1st CFL start (playing just over half the game). Both teams suck, but the Elks have the QB advantage and a more stout defense. Riding the Elks, but I'd avoid betting this game altogether.
23-17 Elks
TORONTO:
Two byes in 5 weeks, Toronto is the most well rested team in the CFL and playing Montreal on a short week. Montreal just played on Sunday, will have just 3 days to prepare for Toronto (2 days if they take an off day) and Toronto hasn't played since July 3rd. Huge advantage Toronto. Montreal does have a solid defense but their offense always sputters when they get into the Red Zone/scoring range and they settle for field goals. Fajardo just doesn't have it, he didn't in Sask and doesn't in Montreal either. Toronto wins this game easily.
30-16 Argos
WINNIPEG:
Not much of an explanation needed here. Ottawa doesn't have a QB and is starting Dustin Crum who played one half last week after Masoli got hurt. Winnipeg will feast on the rookie QB and punish Ottawa on the ground with Oliveira and through the air with Schoen. Oh and we forgot about Kenny Lawler, doesn't look like Winnipeg even needs him back! Winnipeg in a route.
34-13 Bombers
SASKATCHEWAN:
This is a scary game for my green Riders. They barely squeaked by Edmonton twice and beat Calgary in overtime (game should of ended in a tie). They aren't playing the same ball they used to play at home in years past. You wouldn't dare bet against the Riders when they were playing at home, not so much since post COVID. Still, the Riders should have enough to win this game. Calgary has a scary good run game and doesn't even have their starting RB playing, and they are the best 1 win team in the league (not saying much). I am riding with my Riders due to QB play and homefield advantage, but this game is a coin flip as much as the Hamilton Edmonton game is. Calgary is very capable of winning this game. Riders win another thriller and just squeak by Calgary.
24-21 Riders
Good luck!
MY POWER RANKINGS AFTER WEEK 5:
1)Toronto
2)BC
3)Winnipeg
4)Saskatchewan
5)Calgary
6)Montreal
7)Hamilton
8)Ottawa
9)Edmonton
Toronto stays put at top spot they were on the bye, BC is in 2nd as they beat Winnipeg handily, Sask in 4th, then Calgary over Montreal as I believe Calgary is the better team even though they've won 1 less game then Montreal, Hamilton moved up from 8 to 7 spot, Ottawa is in 8 after losing the game and QB last week and the winless Elks are in 9.
