Been working long days in North Dakota so I haven't been able to make many plays or post on Covers...here is what I got for today.
BYU at Northern Arizona played at Prescott AZ not Flgstaff AZ
BYU is not the same team without Jimmer, but still are a solid shooting team that plays pretty good defense. Noah Harsock showed signs of being a very good player last year, but has really stepped his game up this year. Nice all around player. NAU has yet to beat a D1 school, with losses to Lousiana Lafayette by 17, San Fran by 19, North Dakota St by 12, and Loyola Marymount by 20. NAU isn't the same team without Cameron Jones. They don't have a guy that can take over, and stuggle to score in long spurts. Frosh, James Douglas is their best player right now, and he is shooting just over 40%. This team takes terrible shots and doesn't really play defense (great recipe for success) and Coach Adras is still trying to find a consistant line-up. BYU should win by 20, but after a tough loss to Wisconsin, they may be sleep walking through this game. I think the Lumberjacks offer some value tonight, but at this point I will not be putting my money on the Lumberjacks. No play for me.
Eastern Washington at Idaho
This will be the best Big Sky game of the 4, with both teams are are evenly matched. Idaho opened the season with a close loses to Long Beach St and Montana and two wins over D2 schools, and Montana St. Idaho returns only 1 starter from last year's squad, Junior Kyle Barone. His is a big (6'10") tough physical player who has the ability to create his own shot, and a nice mid range shot. He shot a WAC best 61% from the field last season. He is also a terrific rebounder. Does need to improve his defense, but he showed signs last year he can do it; needs better effort. Dazmond Starke emerged as a guy that can score and play pretty good defense. Senior guard Deremy Geiger should step-up and be a key guy for this squad. I had Eastern Washingon finishing 4th in the Big Sky this year, but I have re-evaluated my rankings and have them #3, and maybe #2...I think they are just as good as Montana. Collin Chiverton and Cliff Colimon, are the two stars of this team, but last couple games, Cliff Eaderline went off, and was named Big Sky Player of the Week last week with an average of 21 pts, 7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2 blocks. This team needs to take better shots, and mises way too many open mid range shots at times. Eastern Washington has Washington St on deck, but they will be focused in Moscow at win this game SU.
