SEASON: 70-73, -7.150 UNITS YESTERDAY: 4-4, +0.975 units
Well, yesterday's FAU game was fun. FAU is the better team for sure and held on to prevail but Charles Jenkins of Hofstra is an absolute stud and is NBA material. Should've been a better day as I was 4-1 for my early posts and then went 0-3 on my 3 smaller late add-ons.
BOSTON COLLEGE +8 (1.75 UNIT)
AKRON +13 (1.75 UNITS)
FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL +3.5 (1.5 UNITS)
Some storm in the Midwest. The roof at the Metrodome just collapsed and the Pats/Bears game will be played in a blizzard with up to 50 mph winds. Can you say UNDER?

Unless there are some major turnovers to create short fields I can't see this game getting to 37. Certainly going to be no field goals unless they are under 25yds. I took a chance on it thursday and got it at 41.

both these teams are throwing teams(bears a little less so lately), with average running games at best. 30-40 MPH winds means 10 maybe 11 players within 5 yds of the ball. Very tough to run or throw screens when there is no deep ball threat.
sorry GH.... back to your regularly scheduled hoops program. Will try to stay on topic

Lilefty, Defensive players are at a huge disadvantage in these sort of conditions. The offensive player knows where he is going and gets to make the 1st move. Often times on a cut you will see defensive players fall down.
Also its harder to pass rush in slippery conditions. If you slip one bit the offensive linemen pancakes you. So QB's often times will have time to throw.
Everyones 1st instinct is to scream under in these circumstances...and it might go under. I have though seen games in such conditions where it easily went over. A Raiders/Broncos game a couple years ago comes to mind...the game was a scorapalooza. Defenders were falling down left and right.
Things like catching punts-kickoffs...handling handoffs and snaps become more difficult. You can see short fields which can lead to easier points.
Is way to many things to cap in these sort of conditions. NFL is the most difficult game to cap under normal conditions...adding this stuff just makes it even more so...good luck

I'm with Lefty. NE played Buffalo in similar if a bit worse conditions, two(maybe three) years ago. 16 straight running plays to start the game. Neither team really knew what to do except run and punt. In the 2nd half they got more advanturesome, but score ended 13-0

Careful with the Bears/Pats under... the worse the conditions...the bigger advantage to the offensive player.
You know I'm a Sparty fan but totally disagree with you here...no team will be able to throw the ball more than 10-15 yards...the pats offense is built on quick hitters of 10 yards or less...both defenses will have 10 men within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage will take away Brady's passing lanes since it will near impossible to throw deeper into 40-55 mph winds. As mentioned in this thread, this reminds me of the Bills-Pats game in Week 17 a few years ago where the refs couldn't even put the ball down as it would blow away...kicking will be near impossible from outside 25 yards..in that game, the ball was blowing almost at a 90 degree angle when kicked.....both teams will struggle moving the ball because of the defensive dynamic of not having to worry about the deep ball...snow and rain is never a reason to bet an UNDER...high winds are a definite reason for an UNDER.

They will be able to throw the ball...the real question is will they choose to throw the ball...big difference there.
Double moves in these conditions are almost unstoppable. Why? Because the defender will bite and will either slip and fall down or will be a good 2 steps behind the defender.
Quoting games is really pointless...have certainly been games either way to justify either side.
You mention punting...thats huge partner...means a higher chance of blocks for scores or short fields.
These are the type of games where you cannot cap what could happen. These types of games are clearly luck shots. They could run the ball everytime and the game could end 3-0 or there could be huge plays galore and be 50 in it.
Just keep in mind the line is figuring in the people who are pounding the under...in my opinion this is a no play. Are way to many factors that are in play in this game.

Also keep in mind that screen passes are very good plays in bad conditions. Wide receiver screens and regular. Getting the offense going 1 way and then making them change directions is always a good idea. Also misdirection running plays are good plays to run...shovel passes-reverses and anything that makes defenders change directions.
Whether either team gets brave is the key. They could play conservative and you would have a great chance...but if they get bold you will see big plays.
