The strength of CSU this year is their Defense. Coach Tim Miles has preached this for years, and finally starting to see results. The team is relatively young, and very inexperienced. They do not really have a “star” on the team, but Guard Dorain Green is by far the most electric player on the team. He takes a lot of dumb shots and can be really sloppy at times though. Andy Ogide and Adam Nigon provide most of the offense for the team, but aren’t good at creating scoring chances for themselves. They are not that big but are tenacious rebounders. The Rams this season go through long scoring droughts at times, which is mostly because of bad decisions and terrible ball movement. They are OK from the FT line, but can also be streaky. Tim Miles likes to use a bunch of different line-ups through out the game, and trys to find something that works, and then will ride it as long as he can.
CU is a much more veteran savvy team, that return 9 or 10 players from last years squad. CU’s star player is junior guard Cory Higgins, who can pretty much shoot from anywhere and is great at creating his own shots. He has a quick step and gets to the basket and draws fouls. They have another player, Freshman guard, Alec Burks who will be a HUGE star for the Buffs. He has the potential to be an NBA player. He is extremely quick, great court vision, and very accurate. I believe he was
This should be a fun match-up to watch, with Green and Burks matching up.
After looking through the stats and just from watching both teams closely, I am going to have to give the lean to the Buffs (I hate saying this). I think the game will be close throughout, and CSU will be playing on pure emotion, but in the end, CSU’s sloppy play and lack of scoring options is going to catch up with them. This is a 6 point win for the Buffs. I will be there rooting on my Rams, and hope I am wrong, but here is my bet.
CU -3 (-105) ( I know the public is all over this bet, but this is how I see it).
