Hayward is the only player comparable to Bird.

Fuck no.  Why must every good white boy be compared to Bird.  Adam Morrison was the same way.  Hayward will be the next great pro because he is fluid taking the ball to the whole.  The athletic ability in the NBA is so much better than it was in the 80's.  Hayward is the only white guy in this years tourney that can be an all-star type player on that level.

Im sorry but this is ridiculous. Were you even around to watch Larry in his prime? You want to compare a guy whos not even the best player on his team to Larry Legend who ranks as one of the greatest all around players the game has ever seen. Cmon......use some sort of common sense

OK this is so typical of an AMATEUR bettor. This guy bet Duke, and now has fallen in love with them because he won money on them, but he can't stop with just winning money, because he's to charged up winning, so he goes on and makes a comment like this. I've seen this time and time again. When a bettor wins or is winning he starts calling his friends, "you see him. You heard it here first, he will be the best ever to play the game." NOT ONE OF THESE PLAYERS for Butler or Duke will even be NOTICED in the NBA. And if you guys think Hayward LOL!!!!!!!!! The NBA is a MAN to MAN league ONLY! Stop and think about what that means, and why clowns like Adam Morrison become busts. It's so obvious your youth shows, because yeah I know what you're thinking since your are so hyped into todays players, but I'll put it to you this way- A great player like a Carmelo Anthony wishes he was half as good as Bird!!! Jordan, Magic and Bird were something else. I know Kobe and LeBron. Kobe YES. He is the LAST old school type of player who plays the game as if he is homeless. Practices four hours a day on days off. LeBron already wants traded, etc. LeBron won't lose sleep if he loses. Here's the difference: When LeBron got swept in the finals versus the Spurs, he was spotted in a strip club the same NIGHT!!! When Kobe lost to the Celtics, NOBODY heard from him for 2 weeks, and there were speculations he might not return to the Lakers, because he wasnt even talking to the Lakers. Thats how SICK he was when he lost. Go back and read the history of the league, because guys like Bird, Jordan, and Magic will BLOW your mind away. As for LeBron, Melo, and the rest of this league- they are becoming greats, but a looooonnng ways to go. These guys aren't even in Pippen's league yet. Pippen is a hall a famer who was RIDICULOUS on defense. That's where you guys forget- these legends were the best on defense as well on offense. You think Melo, LeBron can lock down a super star? You saw what Kobe did to LeBron when Lebron asked to guard him. But, you see KOBE CAN LOCK DOWN ANYONE!

Saying Haywood has all-star talent is the truth.  The whole Larry Bird argument is crap because Larry was one of the best of all time. Haywood has all the tools to succeed.  He has good ball handling, can shoot, takes the ball to the whole, and he understands the game of bball.  He also does not mind playing inside which means he does not mind getting physical.  You add that to a 6'6-6'7 frame and he can play the 2 or the 3.  I have watched plenty of ball and played through college.  Scheyer, not so much but this Haywood kid will be a stud and a steal as someones first round pick.

Hayward's an average NBA player at best. He's pretty tall but might not be quick enough to play small forward in the league. NBA execs don't give unathletic wings too much of a chance unless they have 25 foot range. Thats not Hayward's game.

There is noone in the college game anywhere close to Bird.  He was Kevin Durant with passing ability and a non-ethiopian diet.

Exactly. The difference between college level and the NBA is enormous, in terms of athletic talent. Larry Bird proved he had what it takes to take it to the next level, despite his lack of athleticism. BUT he is a rare bird.

The fact is, the likelihood that anybody from either the Duke or Butler team even being  1/2 as good as Bird is virtually nil.
