Everyone knows Dayton was highly regarded coming into this season and that injuries have slowed their start. But while they've gotten some guys back, they currently don't pass the eye test to me. They should improve at some point and perhaps noticeably so, but I think it's still too early and there's a question of just how healthy they are at a couple key spots. They still have a great defense though and that will keep them in games while they struggle offensively.
However, I don't feel they deserve to be lined as nearly two possession chalk here against NC State. There aren't any kind of big expectations for the Wolfpack this year, but they do some things solidly, most importantly sharing and shooting the ball. This will definitely be a clash of styles as the Flyers like to play slow and methodical while the Pack prefer to play in transition. NCSU isn't without any defense though, as they generate a nice amount of steals.
The Wolfpack played competitively with Kansas yesterday while Dayton engaged in a slobber knocker with the Badgers. That type of affair perfectly suited both the Flyers and Badgers similar styles, thus it was the ultimate showdown each of those teams could focus on. The Flyers lost by 1 but blew so many chances to win that game, and I feel that will leave them a little flat in this spot against NC State who doesn't carry as much of a burden and expectations. Give me the +3.5 points in my back pocket with the better offensive team who I believe is in the better physical and mental mindset for this B2B spot.
Happy Thanksgiving to all and GO WOLFPACK!!!
