NCAA Calcutta Auction Strategy

Does anybody have any experience with Calcutta auctions for the NCAA tournament? Any advice would be greatly appreciated — looking for ways to model out a potential strategy and/or general formulas for success you may have developed over time. Thanks!

Calcuttas are a blast. The only time I participated in one was in 2006 when I took Bradley. I think I paid $250 and they reached the Sweet 16 and I think I won $1,800.

Now the problem was there were some large consortiums who pooled their money and were able to buy the higher seeds. I bought Bradley by myself.

Bradley was a #13 seed in 2006. I think there is a lot of value in the lower seeds making the Sweet 16.

My favorite part for the NCAA Tourney is the Calcutta Auction of teams. $2,500 is our max buy, historically I have done well taking a handful of 8-12 seeds and hoping one of them makes a run. Nebraska, Colorado, Colorado State, TCU, New Mexico, Grand Canyon are some of the teams im hoping to land. Good Luck!

Has anyone created an excel spreadsheets? Possibly taken implied probabilities from a Sportsbook and Kenpom for win probabilities to put a value on each team? I’ve got last years information but I’m not computer savvy enough to put it on a spreadsheet.
